As a lot of people around the forums know I do merchant services for a living. For those of you that don't know what that is: long story short the company I work for is where businesses go to be able to accept credit cards. Coincidentally my office is all men so I'm exposed to a lot of sexist stuff on a daily basis and usually it doesn't bother me.

Just a few moments ago one of our sales reps was headed out to lunch talking about an account he's working on and suggested I check out their website and advise him on how to properly classify it for business type. This isn't uncommon as a lot of businesses fall into a gray zone between types of business and it's my job to advise sales reps on how to do things (among many other job duties) Well I pulled up the company's website and I can't help but be disgusted at what I found.

The site : Model Quality Introductions - An Executive Matchmaking Service for Affluent Singles

This looks to me like a dating service for dirty old rich men to find skanky gold diggers. I could go on and on about how many different ways I find this offensive, repulsive, and otherwise totally messed up. Because of the things I've dealt with growing up I get very angry at men that use women and just want to beat the snot out of skanky women like this that fit so many stereo types that its ridiculous.

But of course I can't say anything at work due to the fact that all my coworkers are male and simply sit drooling at the screen like a bunch of mindless apes. Please tell me I'm not the only woman on the forums feminist enough to find this type of business repulsive and insulting. If this merchant had ever called me I'd have told them unequivocally that I wouldn't do business with them. If the sales rep manages to get this account I'm not sure what I'll do if the owner decides to call me with questions. With my initial reaction to his business fresh in my mind I'd likely tell him off.

But maybe that's just me... what do you ladies think?

Yeah, it's pretty offensive. Women who want to go after a guy just because of how much money he has give all of us a bad name. I can sort of understand the men involved with the site because they probably have come to believe that most women are only going to be interested in them for their money and they might as well know that from the start instead of wondering all thru a relationship. When it comes to dealing with them as a customer it comes down to whether it's more important to keep your job, or not have to deal with someone you disagree with. If I were doing your job I'd probably have more of a problem dealing with someone trying to sell religious materials than the website that's selling gold digger introductions.

Ryle, I went to the site, Ok, first thing I noticed was that the ladies don't look all that skanky. Second thing, I can't see the young handsome men they want to be introduced to. LOL
It's a dating service for rich losers and old guys. If the girls can stomach them..let them. More cute up and coming young guys left for those who are looking.
I say, just classify it and move on. Don't sweat the small stuff. A liberated woman is one who can take the good with the bad and keep her feet out of the crap!

I was one of those women who wanted equal pay, equal job status and still wanted to be treated like a lady. In fact I insist on it!

These ladies are trading looks for money..and can we all say where that will lead? Facelifts, affairs, divorce, alimony..so where is the downside?

Just kidding. They will be treated like a fast car and be traded in in 3 years. this stuff only works out in the movie of the week.

Mary.. some of the ladies aren't bad but some of them look like they would s*** off 50men in a row just for GP. Those kind of women drive me bananas..

But you girls are right, I shouldn't care. (and I did classify it.. dating service.. unacceptable business type) It just disgusts me as much as this thing I saw on TV the other day "online booty call" or something like that. Both seem to me like nothing more than glorified internet whorehouses. Moonflame sees my perspective a bit on this... makes the rest of us look bad. But more than that just seeing it lowers my overall opinion of men in general. I know that isn't right and I know there are plenty of men out there that aren't like that (I've got no less than 4 of them right now trying to get me to dump my BF and go out with them  & I'm definitely not one of "those" girls) But it still makes me want to go on a punch out rampage and kick the tar out of the whole lot of them.. GRRR :-x

Ok I think I'm done venting now... most days at work are great, I'm introduced to lots of interesting people and business types but sometimes I run into stuff like this that goes against everything that I believe in and it just pokes my buttons... ya know?

I think that woman that do this kind of thing are cheap and makes other woman look like a sex toy. I just try to not let it bother me. This kind of thing goes on all the time.
Some woman have no respect for themself or anyone else.
Some men are the same.

There are still alot of good people in the world and like Mary said, those woman will find out they are like a new car and when it gets old. They are nothing. Lesson that they will have to learn.

I know, I shouldn't be walking into the ladies room. Be my luck you all chase me out batting me in the head with your handbags ala Benny Hill style. :D

Just was somewhat intriqued with the subject and felt as a male the guys should have a bit of a say. :)

After viewing that website, I agree with Ryle. It looks skanky. Personally, I'd much rather meet a woman who is down to earth, and not the plastic I see there. Contrary to popular belief, while most males will sit there drooling like "mindless apes" (HAHA, I gotta love that) most guys on the inside look for the same thing that women do. But will we admit it? Never.

(It's the males natural instinct to drool like a mindless ape anyways. It's genetically programmed into our dna)

Sure, there are males who sadly have a brain stem that ends between their legs, however most guys are not like that. I know I'm not one of them. :)

Now if you'll excuse me, this dirty old rich man has to go find himself a golddigger.

Maybe this one will do

That's the spirit Ryle!:)
I know it upsets you, but you need to remember that you are in charge of youself. You can guide others but you can't force them to live up to your standards. Just keep true to yourself and be an example. It's the best you can do.
I do agree those ladies have problems and are money hungrey, but we aren't in their shoes, or mental state.
Sometimes what you wish for isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Thanks Jim.. you always make me laugh :D & I'd never hit you with my handbag... too many electronics in there :p

Now that I've had a chance to vent and get over it.. it doesn't bother me anymore.. just gets the same "eye roll & sigh" reaction any other thing of this nature gets from me. I guess it was mostly just the shock factor of having it thrown at me out of nowhere and knowing I can't say anything IRL about it. I was just sitting here surfing the forum and dealing with E-cig merchants and billing issues for a kid's music store when all of a sudden I've got "golddiggers r us" thrown in my face. 8-o

Oh sure, only worry about the cell phone and PDA. Never mind the skull fractures. 8-o

The sad fact is that regardless of sex, there will always be these type of people. Anna Nicole Smith comes to mind as a world famous gold digger. Marrying that rich old guy like that. Made me sick.

But then again, guys are just as bad. We're just in the limelight more.

I'm reminded a scene from the movie Orgazmo (you gotta see it, halarious movie, a spoof of the porn industry made by the guys who made South Park) where they were debating if porn exploits women. The debate turns into guys being exploited as well (very lame reason used) and finally, one guy said "So, porn exploites... people"

Anyways, enough of my ramble. As a guy, I can take the jokes too:

Q) Why do doctors slap babies' butts right after they're born?

A) To knock the penises off the smart ones.

Of course.. at any given time I've got about.... $500-ish in electronics in my purse...it's the only reason I carry a purse, not enough pockets for all the gizmos and gadgets. (Yes a mugger would make out like a bandit if they managed to mug me) Your skull fractures would heal.. electronics wont :p

Other than that I don't have much to add or comment on in your post but I am a little confused about one thing....

Where was the joke?? :p

Reading all of this made me think of one of the girls on Big Brother this year (mindless guilty pleasure I know :) ). She has very large, obviously fake breasts, wears very low cut tops and complains the first thing people notice about her is her chest. It makes me nuts! I don't care if women want larger breasts, that's their business. But if you go out and buy huge ones you really can't complain if folks notice them. I mean really, isn't that the reason you got them that big to begin with. I want to smack her with a brick every time she opens her mouth. Of course hubby's only comment was that she should have spent the money on a nose job instead.

I don't remember the exact circumstances (who we knew was leaving or cheating) but I know the debate was with DH and I remember equating a lasting/loving relationship with who would be willing to wipe your ..... Something to the effect "He has an accident and can't wipe his own a**, do you really think she's going to stick around and do it for him?" Now it's what he uses as his best relationship advise.

I've got no problems whatsoever with dirty old rich men and goldiggers. They've been around long before me and will continue long after. World's oldest profession and all that. I agree with MaryKay on the happily ever after only happening in the movies.

More cute up and coming young guys left for those who are looking.

The only thing I can say has really ever bothered me has been those GirlsGoneWild videos. A few drunken moments of time that can have potential repercussions for the rest of your life that you received little or nothing for and someone else profits greatly from. Maybe I saw the commercials in the wrong light however and those were all fully sober girls who were given ample time to read through contracts and such, make a decision to participate and receive ample compensation and royalties.

My main problem with the Girls Gone Wild thing is that those girls get nothing and the producers make a fortune. I have no problem with nudity, the human body is a work of art, but posing nude should be a decision made when sober and they should be paid for their time and the use of their image just like any other model. I don't think those girls take any time to think about the fact that a future employer or date or in-law could recognize them from one of those videos.

When I lived in Havasu, the GGW people came to town one summer (or maybe it was spring break.. I can't remember) and I was hanging out down by the channel (a part of the lake) with some of my friends and those guys were harassing us trying to get us to get on film for them and wouldn't take no for an answer even after we told them we were only 14 & 15. One of my friends stayed home or at my house for like 3 days because every time she went into town she'd run into those guys and they'd start harassing her... They're horrible people and don't care if you're of proper age or not, maybe they do it differently now but back then they just offered you free booze if you'd let them film you afterward and they tried to make it out like it wasn't sex related assuming that young girls were too naive to have heard of girls gone wild.
