The main concerns seem to be with buttery flavors and flavors that use this flavoring including butterscotch and surprising ones such as cream. Also, vanillan, and even cinnamon seem to have some potential problems although there is not much research based on our form of ingesting them. The one flavoring used for buttery flavors may be the same one implicated in "popcorn lung" experienced by workers who made microwave popcorn. There may also be problems related to the substitutes.
