I have a ton of kanger coils laying around. I have a hypertank coming, and two protank minis in use, along with 2 unitanks (I replaced my protank 2's with Iclear 30s tanks). I keep reading how rebuilding your own coil heads improves vapor, flavor, etc and I think I'm ready to try it after seeing a couple videos. It looks much easier than it sounded. So is there a starter kit out there y'all can point me to? Is there a certain gauge wire? I like staying in the 2.2-2.5 range and I vape mostly between 3.8 and 4.2v, and I suck at math completely so I need to keep it simple. Also any videos that are top notch for a beginner would be great.

If you're staying in the 2.2-2.5Ω range, I'd recommend using either 30g or 32g. I personally use 30g in my ProTank builds - micro-contact coils, 1.2mm, 11/10 wrap for a 1.8-2.0Ω wrap.

30g will be a bit "stiffer" than 32g, so it's a bit easier to work with - less springy.

As for videos, most people refer to RipTripper's stuff - he does a bunch of micro-coils in PT videos, and they're pretty good quality, with up-close views. Just search YouTube for "protank coil rebuild", and you'll find tons of decent videos.

Also, check this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/486794-protank-microcoil-discussion.html

Hope this helps

If you want to try out different gauge kanthal, you can try OKC Vapes or Kidney Puncher , both of them have decent prices on smaller quantities. For a Protank, I would recoment 30 or 32, 32 will get you closer to were you want to be in resistance. As far as wick, now I use cotton on everything, but I used to use a single strand of 2mm or 2.5mm silica with great results, 2mm for VG based and 2.5mm for 50/50 or higher PG juices.

I learned watching videos, I like GrimmGreen and PBusardo, and both have good Protank videos.

Thanks! 11/10 I assume is how many wraps? I'm sure my husband won't mind me stealing...i mean borrowing a drill bit. Looks like I just need to grab an ohms reader (or use my provari's built in one) the wire and some cotton.

Thank you! My shop is actually carrying kanthal and silicone now, apparently at the request of those who can't quit cigs without dripping. They told them their problem, he got the gear in. I'll check sizes when I'm there this evening. I do love my Protank minis, I just want a little more out of them, and a little less having to buy heads.
