The Dura C........

There's a product with VERY strong feelings on either end of the spectrum....

People either LOVE it or HATE it - usually one or the other, nothing much about it on the forum from people with "lukewarm" feelings towards it..although I would guess that's more from the site problems and shipping problems Janty has had this last month.

Me personally - I like the penstyles better. I just wanted to point out the other side of the fence seeing though there's only glowing responses here...

I have mixed feelings about it. I like the performance/vapor/throat hit, but it's equal IMO to the Pilot/m401. Has a bigger cart that's easier to top off, so less frequent and easier refills. Manual battery option, so doesn't have same sensitivity issues as m401. The auto batteries I've got for it are sensitive like the m401, but not as much. Has a portable charging case, which I love.

So what's the hold-up from total love? Reliability and parts price. I had my 1st ever atomizers die with the Dura-C. 2 in 2 days. I have Pilot atomizers that have been under near continuous heavy use for over 6wks without a hitch. Avg m401 atomizer price last I looked was around $10. Avg I've seen for Dura-C/Titan/etc. is $15. $5 not much of a big difference, but if on avg I get 4+wks of heavy use out of a $10 atom and I only get days to a couple wks light use out of a $15 atom...well, I'll use the $10.

I got used to and pretty fast at topping off the Pilot and I never did get the large capacity carts, so while it's somewhat nice with the Dura's bigger carts, not a make or break issue to me. Sensitivity of the batteries was only a problem for me with strong wind, so got used to keeping the LED of the m401 cupped in my hand.

The PCC case is the thing that really sets the Dura apart for me. So I'm hoping the dead atoms were a fluke. Give me a month of steady use without a failure and I might fall in to the  category. Until then I reserve judgment.

Another vote for awesome. What I like is that the limit on how much vapour to take is now decided by me, not the PV. This thing can produce more vapour than I want so I'm not trying to "game" the cutoff all the time.

Something else which occurred to me is that the Dura-C might be easier on atomisers because you can suck all the vapour off it as it cools down when you release the button. With an automatic switch I often end up with the atomiser still active for a second or so after I've finished taking a drag. It's only a hunch, and I may be wrong, but I think this could reduce the buildup of gunk on the atomiser. Anyone who uses a PV with a manual switch know for sure?

Momof3 you can't compare the dura-c and the pilot, they are totally different.

I have used a pilot, and the cutoff was just horrible, 3 seconds, if that.
The cart from the pilot is so small it's pathetic, have you ever looked at how little stuffing is there to hold the liquid (?)
On top of that it's difficult to refill because it's so small, so it's very easy to overfill, and your mouth is full of liquid. Yak.
The pilot does not have the manual switch.
The pilot does not have a closed atomizer, so dripping can be a problem.

The Dura-C has a nice draw, the hit is awesome, dripping without a problem, no worries about killing the atomizer because too much liquid.

If wish the battery would last a little longer, but I'm surviving because when one battery needs to be recharged the other one is ready to be used.

Respectfully I was replying to both what I thought of the Dura-C and giving my opinion as a lukewarm Dura-C owner vs love/hate. It was my understanding that was the topic of the thread. Opinions are subjective. The reasons I stated and examples given are my opinion of my personal experience with owning both models. I have both the manual and the auto batteries for the Dura. If I owned a 901 and loved or hated it over the Dura-C I would have used it as an example. Since I don't own a 901, I didn't make comparisons.

IMO the Dura-C and Pilot have many things in common. As in all things, people have different experiences. Your experience with the Pilot is not the same experience I have had. I drip to my hearts content, have never had cut-off issues and since I learned how to refill and topoff, liquid in the mouth hasn't been an issue. I don't love the Pilot over the Dura-C. I am enjoying them both. I think they are very similar, but the Dura-C has less of a learning curve.

Since I know how to use the Pilot, the actual smoking experience is about the same to me. My Pilot has been well used and I don't feel the need to baby it along. I am giving the Dura-C a fair shot, but until it has given me what I feel is a decent amount of trouble-free service, I'm not going to say good-bye to my Pilots or pens and proclaim the Dura-C king of all e-cigs. They all have issues.

My opinion is that you can not compare the two units, they are not even close for comparing.
And by you doing that you are confusing the new members.

Sorry, but I disagree. If you insist however here is to date my opinion for a newbie interested in the Dura-C. It's a great smoke and very user friendly. If you would like a reasonably smooth analog to e-cig experience and you are a generally lucky person go ahead and buy one. If you don't want to take chances, do not buy the Dura-C for at least another month or two or buy a generic Yeti/Titan/510. Buy at least 2 sets, or plenty of spares, or another device such as a 901.

And for the record my opinion is not based off of 1 set. I currently own 3 sets with more on the way.

I like my DuraC, battery life is great for their size and charging is fast, very fast. Large cart is a big plus even though I fill mine every few cigs worth, usually about three to five drops. I just got used to refilling a lot using a RN4081. Had it been my first E-cigg it would have saved me some money. I like the fact that the 510 parts will fit it as they are a lot cheaper and easier to find. I may just buy some when my warranty is up, oh the warranty is a good deal as well included at no extra charge. The two included attys make it hard to resist but the two I got are totally different. The Janty branded one with the warranty is not nearly as good as the spare and I have sent an unanswered E-mail to see if I can exchange it for another. We will see how that goes.

Dura-C, awesome! Incredible performance and very nice, tasty, throat hits. I've ran into a number of vapers with lessor e-cigs. They take a hit of mine, and are like, wow, that's one powerful hit, then they feel bad for wasting their time on some little e-cig that looks like a cigarette. Black and Gold, far more elegant. Battery life is rediculously poor. But the PCC solves all that. I carry around 4 batteries, but can often get by with two and the PCC.
