We have both had a chance to try the new auto DAV and decided to consolidate into one thread (saves on real estate). I'll be posting my comments first and the lovely jj will add hers a little later.
Lisa's experience:
I call it "experience" rather than "review" because I didn't have anything particular in mind or any plan prior to using the new DAV. I just attached cartos and proceeded as normal. I used two different V4L juices separately; both of them come from a stash of stockpiled, no longer available juice..... a mint and a berry tobacco. I started at 4.2 volts, my usual starting point with a new juice on another variable volt PV. I like that this just so happens to be one of the markings on the dial. I used a V4L cool cart.
First, at least for me, this is the best draw on an auto that I have ever tried. I realize that draw preference is subjective. I find that little effort is required to get a draw but that the draw is full of vapor. On mine, there is no need for a primer puff at all. If these are consistently made this way.....then I'm an auto girl again, at least for when I'm out and about.
I was pretty impressed, so I decided to do a side-by-side taste test using same juice, same carto, same voltage... With a high-end variable voltage device that has the initials "PV"; the mini version. Absolutely no difference whatsoever in flavor or vapor. This surprised me very much.
I did not even test for length to cutoff. For me, if I'm not getting the hit I want in 5 seconds then I don't want to waste my time. This thing delivered what I want. It's convenient, and makes using an auto a real option for me again.
Battery life - I wouldn't know, as I always put them on the charger way before they are drained and have many backup options.
Stay tuned for jj's upcoming review.
