JOURNEY BLACK - THE CUSTARD
Country of origin: Croatia
@Ispy package: 12/2
According to the Croatian manufacturer, "Journey Black represents the "super premium" level", which after testing the product for the umpteenth time, seems plausible . Simple flavours, yet we get a little something extra with each one that sets it apart from similar products. The custard is a plain vanilla custard, which can be delicious on its own, but also boring.
The smell is vanilla, more reminiscent of an ice cream than a custard. To be honest, it's hard to call something 'custard' as these desserts often veer towards creamy or simply turn into heartless with the addition of very sweetly excessive vanillin. I have a bit of a problem with the flavour, as I didn't get any sort of custardy sensation, just a vanilla taste. It's not sweet, you can just barely detect a hint of sweetness, you get a natural vanilla flavour. I have a feeling that the main flavour is a bit overpowered, so it has a bit of an alcoholic aftertaste or something. It might be perfect as a substitute flavour or mixed with other flavours, but on its own I don't think it's enjoyable all day. As the smell is very pleasant, it does compensate somewhat for the taste, but that's not enough to make it worth the price it sells for overall. If it's called a pudding, it could be a bit more milky, creamy and sweet, but this flavour lacks all of those things that would make it what it's called. All in all, I can say that there are indeed premium quality flavours in the Black range, although saying "super premium" might be a bit of an exaggeration. Nevertheless, my opinion of the product does not mean that it won't be good for you, steam it up, it might be worth a try!!!
