Hi everyone! I'm new around here.

I dont really have much to say other than I'm kind let down by my Joye 510. I saw all these people in this forum and on you tube raving about how much they loved it, so I ordered a starter kit from E-smokey treats.com. It does consistently put off a huge cloud of vapor, but the vapor is like...really thin! It's like a mouthfull of slightly flavored air. It's also pretty annoying that after 8 or 10 puffs I have to top off the cart. Sometimes the batting gets stuck to the attomizer and I have to stuff it back into the cart and get sticky e-liquid all over my fingers. >_< I'm a pretty heavy smoker/vaper so going through that whole rigamarol several times a day is a problem for me. Maybe I'm just not doing it right? lol. Does anyone know of any modifications I can try to make the vapor thicker?

For now Im just using it as a back up for my Green Smoke. I've been using GS for going on a year, and I love it. I cant believe there are so many bad reveiws for it! Green smoke does have a lot of problems (Like oh, say how GOD AWFUL EXPENSIVE IT IS! That's the reason I was going to switch to the 510 in the first place! Also, GS doesnt offer a PCC or blank cartomizers. Get on the ball people. Another thing is that it takes about 4-5 hours for the battery to charge.) What I love about the green smoke is that after I use up the gs liquid in the cartomizer, I can refill it with Johnson Creek's tennessee cured smoke juice and WOW! I get this thick, strong tasting, almost velvety cloud of vapor in my mouth. It's very satisfying. Plus the carts hold a lot of juice, I usually can go all day and only have to add more juice once. I can use and reuse the cartomizers many times before they break. (that's the tobacco and vanilla carts, the strawberry and chocolate one never work as good.)

If I cant tweak this 510 and bring it up to par, I'll probably just give it to a friend and keep praying that Green smoke starts putting out less expensive blank cartomizers soon.

Well, happy vaping everyone!

I'm not a big fan of the flavor production that the 510 offers either. The DSE 901 and kr808 d-1 provide better flavor. My best suggestion would be to order a 510 to kr808/901 adapter from here: 510 to 901/808-D Adapter and then get some 901 attys and some kr808 cartos and try those. I use them all and there's a big difference between them. I think the 901 atty is the best for taste. The adapter is about $2.50 so it's the cheapest way to try the other attys. If you find that they're better you could then order an eGo or Riva and have a better battery to use that adapter on. I use a riva battery with an adapter and kr808 cartos quite often.

I'll have to agree with the second half of VPDownunder's comment, you might want to give the cartomziers a shot. I was having an awful experience with my eGo using the cart/atomizer setup, but once I made the switch to cartomizers it's been awesome. They are low maintenance, cheap, and last a lot longer than filling a standard cartridge. The LR cartomizers should give you the vapor production you're looking for, but probably won't work on standard 510 equipment (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Since you said your problem is thin vapor... Did you give the battery a good initial charge or use it precharged as it showed up in the box? Did you add a few drops of e-liquid to the bridge before you hit it when it was new? Did you blow it (primer) out? If so, definitely get some more liquid on the bridge.

Give the 510 atty some time to break in. Also when you refill the cartridge, put a drop on the atty bridge each time. This will keep it "just right" wet for good vapor.

Clean the connections once in a while if you vapor is getting weak (the atty can leak a little bit and liquid will cause a poor connection and poor vapor). A microfiber cloth works perfectly. Clean the battery connection each time before you put them on the charger too!

Also you might try the a straw modification http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/11421-cart-mod-better-refilling.html which can help liquid wick out of the cartridge better. You also can try one of the many cartridge filler modifications like Fluvial, AquaClear, Lipton Pyramid Tea bags (PTB) etc.

Be patient grasshopper... the 510 has a learning curve. Once you "get it" you'll really get it (good vapor).

The only thing that would make it a bunch better is higher voltage. A 3.7v (or higher) mod can boost the 510 vapor production, so you might want to consider getting a lithium-Ion battery mod unit to run the atomizers. Def worth it and no more fiddly stock batteries (an 18650 Li-Ion run unit will run your atty 2 days).

Happy Vaping back atcha!

The problem with e-cigs is that they are all subject to personal opinion. What works great for one, does not work great for another. If you dont like the 510, you can try something different. Although in my opinion, the 510 is about the best small e-cig out there, but it may not have the type of vapor that you prefer.

There are a few new 510 atty e-cigs out there like the Hello, Riva, EGO and Magnum. These all produce more vapor than the 510 because they are bigger batteries and they last a whole lot longer on a charge. You can even put a LR atty on them to simulate 5 volt vaping for even more vapor.

Even with those mods, you might not like them. But there are many others out there and you just have to try them. If you dont mind having a really big e-cig, you can try something like The Chuck. These things are huge, but when you vape a 6v you will know you are getting a good hit.

I noticed that a few friends who have started with the 510 are not exactly filling the cartridge properly (or enough)... Some of the suggestions that you have read in here may be a good starter... like dripping onto the atomizer before putting the cart on top.

I'm still learning quite a lot about this stuff, but another issue could be the type of eLiquid you have - VG, PG, or 50/50 all provide different levels of vapor. Again, another possibility is switching your blend. (Like already stated, there could be so many different reasons why you are not getting the right hit off your 510)

A Cartomizer gives a better vape for sure... but if its STILL not what you are looking for, then you just might want to pick up a Riva or eGo battery and a LV Atomizer...

Do you have the ability to find a nearby group to you that might have a few folks who already have some of this that could allow you to "sample" first? One of the advantages we have here in Denton is that Greg at Vaporescence carry's a very wide variety of products, mods, carts, cartomizers, atty's and more... This has really helped local vapers here as all whom I've met so far have had NO issue with any of the products that they have purchased.

Buying online, for first time vapers, can be a crap shoot to say the least. You don't know what you are really getting - in most cases - because you've never had someone physically show you the whole how, what and etc behind it. Buying at the mall kiosks, these kids are just usually looking to make their commission and will pretty much tell you anything... (I actually listened to a guy today at a mall here in the DFW area tell me that the 510 he was selling had a battery life of 6+ hours for your "average pack a day" smoker... It was a Joye 510 look a like... just didn't say Joye on anything... not sure WHAT the actual brand was, wasn't Blu or Green either... but so far, I've not heard of a 510 Joye clone gettign 6 hours - I'm not even vaping as much as a pack a day smoker would and I get roughly 3 hours...)

E9 blank cartomizers compatible with greensmoke

These will allow you to fill and refill with any juice you want. tons cheaper than buying from greensmoke.

and to reiterate what others have said: a high voltage mod (I use a 5v box mod) with a 510 atomizer not only gives you MORE vapor, it tends to be much heavier as well, lingering for a bit like an analog would.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I did blow all the primer fluid out of the atty when I got, and I do drip directly on the atty alot. I get a lot of vapor it just seems kindof...meh to me.

I guess the 510 just isnt my taste. Sounds like what I need to do is ditch the minis and get myself an LR running big boy, lol. Well, you live and learn.

Hope my friend enjoys her new e-cig! lol.

I wound up mixing my PG with some of my VG flavors to blend and get a better vape myself - ALL of my "exotics" (Cheesecake, Creme de Mint, Keoke Coffee) are VG blends and I'm finding that I enjoy vaping them MUCH better than the PG that my initial Tobacco blend came with. I AM going to run to town tomorrow and pick up a LR atty for my eGo tomorrow, and I guess while I'm there - ya'll talked me into getting a pack of Cartomizers as well to give them a try...

The upside to having a shop in town - great selections, plenty of new things to try and buy, and instant gratification... The downside to having a shop in town - great selections, plenty of new things to try and buy, instant gratification...

It sounds like that would be the best bet for you. Thats what I ended up doing as well. In the vaping world, bigger is better.

Well, the juice I use is the PG based Tennessee cured flavor from Johnson Creek. The vapor and flavor is exellent in my Green Smoke cartomizers. Probably for now I'll just stick to cartomizers.

I dont think there's anything wrong with my 510, it's just... to me it feels like smoking a light cigarette and the Green Smoke is like a Black & Mild (a really good tasting black & mild:D) I'm using the same juice in both units, so I dont think it's the juice.
