Well just got it in and I was very disappointed. Tried the .25 coil and it was too hot and flavorless. Then I got home and tried the .6Ohm Coil. 100% better.

I like that it's very light weight. The form factor is fine too. I was vaping less than usual and it's on the 3rd bar. I haven't seen a lessening of the voltage as the bars go down.

I really wish they had included a 1.2Ohm Coil. Since you can't control the wattage the only way to control the vape is with the coils.

Remember to use the needle pokes and prime, prime, prime. I have 2 dolphins and 2 penguins and I am very pleased with them.
Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by prime prime prime? Also I haven't had a single dry hit yet doesn't seem to be a need to do anything special.

Glad you are liking yours. Priming is basiccally letting juice soak up into the wick prior to vaping it, there are various methods, and some coils seem to require more priming than others. You just don't want a dry wick startring out that can lead to burnt or inconsistent hits. Glad you are ejnyoing your pod.

Anna
Thanks Anna, Actually I'm familiar with the term "prime a coil" but the way he put it in his post. Prime Prime Prime made me think that there was something more.

I always prime my coils regardless of the setup because many tanks won't start to prime the coil until you start vaping, but if you vape dry you ruin the cartridge.

I've had the Penguin for around a week and my final verdict is in.

Not a single dry hit. No gurgling or spitting. Thick full vapor.

I just ordered the 1.2 ohm coil and it's the missing link. I'm not a fan of hot vapor and I've been using a .20 coil at 18 watts. You can raise the bridge or lower the river. In this case the voltage is not adjustable so you have to choose a Atomizer that's right for you. The 1.2 ohm is perfect.
So + are
1. Light Weight and fairly small form factor.
2. Cute
3. Vapes well
4. Attys available from .20Ohm to 1.2 Ohm
5. Holds a lot of Liquid.
6. Battery Lasts for 2 Days
7. Fast 2 Amp Charge
The - Are
1. Kinda looks cheap. Definitely not classy
2. You can't adjust Voltage
3. To add liquid you have to take the cartridge out
4. The plastic may not hold up.

Final thought:
This unit is a winner. I was so impressed with it that I bought a mini cuboid which was an epic fail, spit, spit, spit.
I hope that Joyetech begins to use this atomizer on more units besides this and the Dolphin because it is one of the best on the market.

Isn't the Penguin larger than most pod systems and similar in size to some box mods with removable standard batteries?

I had the impression that it was sort of the pod equivalent of an all in one box mod like the CUPTI (the CUPTI is actually slightly smaller). The CUPTI has a removable battery but not a removable pod. It can also be used with high resistance coils. Maybe it comes down to preference of removable battery or removable pod?

Yes the Penguin is similar in size to some box Mods but it's much lighter in weight.

Just bought another Penguin SE this one in true Penguin Form. Black and white, figured at around $25.00 delivered from Vapesourcing's U.S WareHouse too good a deal to pass up.

Decided that the .6Ohm Atty is the ideal one for me. I had a cold over the weekend and my mouth and lungs were irritated so at that time it was too hot. That $25.50 is a great price point for this unit. Almost a throwaway but not quite.

It's a trade off, the bigger size comes with, full flavor, a built in 2000+ MAH Battery and around 8ml of juice capacity. If size is the primary concern than it might not be right for you.

I'm finding the battery lasts around 2 days and the Juice 3-4 days. The form factor is definitely on the smaller side, especially for such a large juice capacity. Guess what I was looking for is a relatively compact, Light Weight full featured vaping device with cartridges that don't leak, spit or gurgle.

From this perspective the Penguin SE is a winner.

Curious as to the diff. In battery b/w Penguin and Dolphin. I vape a lot, and I can confirm that (at least for the Dolphin) do not depend on it for a primary device.

I purchased this and loved it — at first. I was so impressed, I bought a 2nd for rotation.

Now let me be clear, this beginner talk is nonsense. I’ve owned many mods, tanks, blah, blah, quite frankly, it all gets annoying af. I grew very tired of having to deal with leaky tanks, coils that burn, coils that don’t wanna prime, etc. I’ve been analog free and vape only for almost a decade now. But the allure of smoking, and even early stage/ life 510s were that it was simple. Many of us aren’t school kids with nothing better to do than sit around and chase clouds and compare mods. Cool story, bro. :)

I started researching pod systems and even Juuls because they’re simple, and the Dolphin looked to have promise for providing me simplicity. I’ve a demanding job, 4 kids, and life is always on the move. A simply device that can still pack a nice punch and stay pocket friendly is a necessity for me.

Back to the dolphin - it really is simply and great, but once you start using it as a primary device - you’re f_cked. If you’re a full time vaper, you’re going to find yourself using at least 1 0.25 ohm coil per day. You can go 1.25 ohm and even save a ton of battery, but it’s def not the same.

Not only are you spending a fortune at this point, but in a full time vape schedule, this built in battery and USB suuuuuuuucks.

I’ve now bought 3 starter kits, as I wanted to make sure I wasnt just getting a bad device. Sure enough, like clock-work, within a month, it starts to act funny: not turn on, not hold a charge, turn off when you least expect it, etc.

So if you’re using this for a rainy day, or an “out-on-the-night” a couple times a week, then fine. But if you think these things are built to last, think again, I’ve now dumped $200 down the drain in kits and attys and carts for about 3 months of use. That’s not exactly optimal - that’s bullish!t. I don’t even want to go through the hastle of returning these, and almost feel bad doing so, as it’s. It the fault of the site that sold them to me. Joyetech put out a crap product here, unless you’re ultra casual vaping.

Maybe the Penguin is different? My guess is it’s the same. But it’s a fun little device if you’re okay with it crapping out mOre sooner than later. I really did like the device. Sigh. On to finding another pod that won’t die in a month.

I have burnt thru coils like nobody's business. It's frustrating. Priming, pocking holes, letting the device seat overnight with a full pod ... Nothing. Even forgetting about it and picking it up a MONTH later, with a full pod, I got a burnt taste out of that coild after 4 pufs.

Does anyone know if the coils currently being sold on fasttech are any better than a few months ago? Or is it the same hit and miss?

Thanks.
