I just ordered my ego passthrough from liberty flights. I have an Inspiron 9300 laptop (6 years old) with (4) 2.0 usb ports. they are never being used - only to charge the ego.... Can I use my passthrough on my laptop. I have been reading the forums this morning and some people are having trouble with the passthrough hooked to there computers...

Any thoughts?

Welcome to both of you. There are 2 types of passthroughs:

1) A Direct PT
2) Battery driven "regular" PTs - although the name in this case is somewhat of a misnomer

The eGo PT is a battery driven PT. Usually, this means that it only requires about 400 ma (guess) from the USB port - should be fine since it is like a charger.

The Direct PTs don't have a battery and require about 2.0 amps. That can be a problem, and I don't suggest people use Direct PTs on their computers - IMHO. Only about $10.00 USD for 2.0 amp wall adapter.

The posts you were reading MAY have referred to a direct PT.

Hope this helps.

With my reading into the ego PT so far, I have found that it runs off the battery, so when the battery dies it wont work anymore, even if plugged in and used as a PT. I, however, don't mind that just for its versatility. I vape heaviest when sitting at my computer (which is way too much! lol) and Im excited to just unplug it and go when I have to leave my desk! Plus I don't have to spring for an extra charger or anything. Thanks for the info AttyPops! very useful to keep in mind if/when I get a dedicated PT.
