Anybody has any info on this unit?

nu-vapor - New JoyeTech eGo 18650 Battery Mod!!!

From the specs i could find:

Dimensions:
  • length: 33mm
  • diameter: 22mm
  • standard eGo/eGo-T/eGo-C
  • white light button
  • regulated voltage: 3.4V
  • 5 clicks on/off
  • utilises 18650 batteries
  • short circuit protection
  • low voltage protection
Now this could be something very interesting and also very cheap. I just wonder how many amps can it take

Can't tell a whole lot from the photo, but looks like it's just an eGo with a bigger non-replaceable battery. Though if it takes a regular 18650 and the battery is replaceable, the would be a handy feature because the cells pretty much suck on the eGo 1000mAh. They seem to wear out really fast. I don't use the eGos myself, but my wife has been using them for over a year. She's lucky to get 6 months on one before it loses most of its charge capacity. I pretty much have to buy her a new set every 4-6 months. I'm on her third set in a little under a year and a half.

If it's manufuctured by Joye, then I imagine it uses the same electronics the regular eGos use which means it would have the same output limitations. You'd have to compare the boards inside to know for sure.

Are you buying EGO batteries with 6 months warranty? In that case you will be certain that they will last at least 6 months and if they don't, the supplier will send you new ones that will have the same warranty from scratch! I know that for a fact since they are what I am buying and when I had an issue similar to yours, Janty (my supplier) immediately replaced the battery.

Hell, I've getting them so cheap lately, it doesn't matter. The last set I got for $10 a piece. For that price, it's not worth the effort to return them. Besides, it's the vendor that eats returns not the manufacturer. I like my vendor and I don't want to screw them by returning every set of batteries I buy.

Normal cycle life is 300 for a LiCo cell. I'm getting around 100 out of the eGos, really bad. I've read somewhere they use a non-standard chemistry, have no idea if that's true or not. Whatever the case, those cells are crap.

You have a point there. However, if the warranty is the vendors advertisment and one of the reasons that someone is buying these batteries, then IMO is a matter of principle :) I believe the vendor will also return the defective battery to the manufacturer for replacement and the manufacturer will consider fixing existing bugs before claiming big warranty periods...
