Juice names: Where did they come from?

So this is rather inane, but I'm curious. I searched the forum and the wiki and couldn't get an answer.

Where did the names for juices like "RY4" and "555" originate? It seems like every supplier has these selections. Are these based on real tobacco products or did they evolve from vaping?

Don't know about the 555, but the RY4 I believe I read was named for one the original manufacturer, Ruyan, and I would assume that the 4 means it was the fourth version of ingredients.

Thanks, now I gotta do some research on "Ruyan." I'd like to read a comprehensive history of e-cigarettes (early-2000s to the present). Joining this community in the last month, I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do.

From what I've seen in my own travels, most of the tobacco style juice is named based on the analog they were trying to mimick.
The RY1-5 series are from the original maker of the e cig, Ruyan and are attempts at a tobacco like taste. They get sweeter more vanilla/carmel as you go up in number.

555 is a type of cigarette. It is called "State Express 555" so you may notice some vendors calling it SE 555. It's apparently very popular in Asia as 5 is a special number in their culture, but it is produced by a European cigarette company, I think in the UK.

Dekang 555 is my favourite all day vape, but I've only tried Dekange and elctronic-cigz.com crystal liquid so I am trying to broaden my e-liquid horizons. I definitely recommend 555 if you want an scape from the sweet candy flavoured e-liquids. It is a nutty tobacco flavour and is not overpowering but tastes great IMO.

I've been using both of these flavors and I really like them. Especially 555. It reminds me of graham crackers.
