Hello everybody!

So, I'm fairly new to the vaping scene, and have spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs here on the ECF Forums - thanks for all of the help!

My one-month-without-a-marlboro was a few days ago (woohoo!), so I thought I would reward myself. I found an authentic KFL+, and made the purchase. I've read many posts concerning the kayfun RBA's, in most of which, people were pleased with its performance. After personally using this device for a few days, myself, I am also a happy customer! Not one gurgle or leak yet! Seems like the ProTanks were constantly plagued with one or the other, or both.

The KFL+ does include the optional m-tank window (makrolon), but I've yet to use it for fear of loading it up with something that will ruin it. I know replacements can be had, but I would rather avoid the frustration/cost of this if at all possible. This is where you guys come in! I miss being able to see how much liquid remains in the device!

Forgive me if this information is available elsewhere on the forums, but, I've scoured and not had any luck in finding what I was looking for. If it does exist, maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

I am hoping to start a list of known juices that do not play well with a polycarbonate (plastic) tank. I know the general rule: citrus/anise/cinnamon are to be avoided, but I would like to see a more comprehensive (specific) list of these juices known to cause issues in a plastic tank. Which e-liquids have you had trouble with while using a plastic tank? Breaks/Cracks/Cloudiness/etc.? Specific flavor and vendor would be ideal!

Thank you all for the wealth of information here on the forums, and your taking the time to read and/or comment on this post! Looking forward to your replies. :D

If you buy from MBV or others who use FlavorWest flavorings, you can also take a look at the link below. Most vendors will let you know what is and isn't safe for plastic tanks, but there are a few common which include most citrus, some alcoholic (absinthe, rum etc), cinnamon etc.

It doesn't mean that it'll affect all tanks, but if you have a plastic tank, those are the ones you should be a little weary of.

Appreciate it, Jonathan. I have run across that list from MBV in the past, thanks for the reminder. Problem is, not all ejuice suppliers include such a list. MBV Hawk Sauce is one I really enjoy - good to know I shouldn't put that in a poly tank. :D

No problem. I remember when I first started vaping and bought all my equipment locally; it wasn't cheap and I ended up destroying $50 in tanks before realizing what was happening. IMHO, this is something that all vendors should test for when mixing their juices or, at the very least, place a statement that says "may crack plastic tanks" and link to why and others that are prone to do the same. This should be on every product page for e-liquids that may or will do this.

I don't use tanks much anymore as I rather enjoy dripping, but I understand why people do use tanks and one of those reasons is convenience. Most that are new to vaping and take a $50 loss the first week are not likely to stick with it, so I think it's all about education. Any vendor that's been online more than a few days or B&M a week should be savvy to this and hopefully, more vendors will follow the lead and that's being generous (IMO, if you're going to sell it, you should know more about it).

I feel your pain, man! The problem is, there are many different plastics used, and even a given tank model can use different plastics in different batches. What melts one plastic can be okay in another. I've seen that with some mints. Other flavorings have no visible effect as a minor ingredient, but etch/cloud a certain plastic at higher concentrations. Cinnamon flavorings are often like that.

I DIY my liquids, and I sometimes put a bit in an old (dead) CE4, just to see what happens. At low enough concentrations, nearly all flavors can sit overnight with no visible effects. Of course you have to wonder if it's slowly dissolving the plastic, and if that's safe in your lungs. And safe in a CE4 can still wreck an EVOD.

It used to frustrate me to see suggestions to just buy glass, but that or metal cartomizers truly are the only way to be sure. Cost is no longer a barrier with glass; here are glassomizers about $3 each: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1535303

it has been my experience that the known tank cracker juices will leak around a deffective seal on the end
caps of ce4 and 5 style tanks more than others,
when i do encounter a cracked tank leaking the cracks are allways horizontal to the
end caps of the tank.i suspect the cracks themselves are caused by stress.
a bump here a knock there or overly eager assemblers at the plant.
certain juice tend to leak out while thicker ones would tend to seal very small cracks.
:2c:

I appreciate all of the information, gang! This will definitely get me started in the right direction.

I went ahead and ordered a couple of spare m-tanks, as a backup plan. I figure I can live without the juice "window" when puffing stuff known to be problematic, and maybe experiment a little with the ones I own that are undocumented - see how the makrolon holds up. Worse case scenario, I crack a tank, but with a replacement on hand, that won't be too big of deal. :)

Good ol' Trial and Error! If and when I find something that chews up the makrolon, I'll post it here. :D

I wonder if the authentic Svoemesto Makrolon M-Tanks are more durable than some of the other third party poly tanks that I've seen out there on the internet. Anybody seen a notable difference in durability between these generic versions and the authentic tanks for the KFL+ (besides the price)?

I do have a couple of the authentic ones on the way - I'm hoping the answer to the above question is yes! Hehe! Thanks again everybody!
