Just a quick hello from Cali

OK, so I've been smoking for about 25 years, and I just ordered 2 different e-cigs and a variety of e-juice. I have no idea what I am doing, all I know is I need to quit smoking and this seems like the best option. My nephew has an older style one and he used it to quit last year, but he went back to smoking because of the hassles... I am much more stationary, I work on the computer from home and sit here and smoke 2 packs a day. Anyway, Originally on a whim this morning I ordered a "Revolution" kit from vaportalkstore, but then I started researching stuff more and decided I SHOULD have gotten an ego.. So I said the heck with it and I went and bought the [FONT="]JOYE eGo-T from thevaporpro, and some of the camel juice and monster juice, and some accessories and whatnot.... When I do things I go all out, so it will probably be nice to have the different units. I also wanted some camel flavor juice, and when I saw this place also had monster flavor I knew I had to just go for it, hahaha... Anyway, I hope this works out for me, I was pretty impressed with my nephews ecig (I don't even know what kind it was, but if I were to guess I'd say it was a 510 or something). Anyway, I did not research this T version of the ego, so I hope it works for a newb and I don't have to be trying to figure out how to mod stuff or fix anything. I just want to smoke (or VAPE should be my new term:)

And a howdy from Texas. I agree with ancient, you have a pretty good set-up. Let us know if you need anything when the kits come and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Many people have to vape a while before they are ready to put the cigs down so if it is too hard to go cold turkey, just alternate between cigs and vapes. You might also get a pass-through for one of your kits. That way you can vape at your computer without using up your batteries.

Wow, this is a really active forum! Thanks to everyone who replied already. I did buy a passthrough for the revolution, and I'll probably get one for the ego t cuz I have a felling I'll be using that one the most. Yea, I am a very compulsive shopper so I can already tell you I'll end up with a provari by next month knowing me:) If I can get a nice heavy drag on something I know I can quit. I smoke 2 packs of camel full flavors a day and I really hit on them. My initial thought was I needed something that felt like a real cigarrette in order for me to adapt, and thats why I got the revolution. I liked the cartomizer idea because the whole having to refill all the time is what made my nephew kinda give up on it, so it seemed like the best fit. But then I started watching youtube videos of people smoking these modded out things (I'm not even sure what some of them are, if they are homemade or what, flaslight mods maybe? I dunno) anyway... I been in total research mode all day. I'm spending $8-10 a day on cigs, so price is not really an issue. I just dropped $200 on e-cig stuff, and if I drop another $200 next month I'm still coming out WAY ahead, not to mention better health....

Now.. here's the thing, I have a 4yo daughter who sits right next to me all day (the primary reason I need to quit). I know this vapor is alot less harmful to her than 2nd hand smoke, but is it still harmful really?

Big Shout out - Welcome and Hello from Arizona.
Glad you found us.

You have some nice equipment headed your way. With your great attitude, I have no doubt that you will be successful in dumping the cigarettes.

My gut tells me your daughter will be fine with your vaping. I say that based on the assumption that she is healthy, with no asthma, allergies, etc. We have many members here who have more experience with vaping & health questions SO - Do Not assume I am correct. I told you what my gut says, that does not make me right - LOL

Welcome. It is nice to meet you.

First, welcome to ECF, from another CA member!

I got my eGo-T about a month ago (or maybe it just feels that long?), and I'm really happy with the battery life. Try it out before you buy the pass through--you might be surprised! I'm a moderate vaper (depends on how crazy my deadlines are :| ) and one batt generally lasts me a couple of days. Even on my heaviest days, I only have to switch out the battery once, and then only if I didn't start with a freshly charged one in the morning. Very unlike my first PV, which I had to switch batteries 2-3 times a day.

Enjoy!

what part of Cali?
Good first shot--not a bad idea to get two different PVs off the bat--most people go through a couple in the first month. If one craps out you have the other. The tanks leaked and clogged on me but the batteries i got (tornado version of ego-t) included a 750 mah pass through model that is the best commercial cig battery yet. charges with a standard usb cable. unplug and walk away with a fully charged battery.

Now.. here's the thing, I have a 4yo daughter who sits right next to me all day (the primary reason I need to quit). I know this vapor is alot less harmful to her than 2nd hand smoke, but is it still harmful really?

I can't tell you for SURE, but here's my experience. Wife and I both smoked analogs (both heavy users). Unfortunately, she's a polio survivor and along about 2003 she was hacking her brains out. (We're not sure its related to the polio, but polio survivors are known to have respiratory issues) All tests negative for respiratory issues, so the only thing left was for her to quit. I hung in there smoking for a couple more years, but even if I was at the other end of the house, she's start coughing as soon as I lit up. So the only recourse for me was to quit also (love does that to ya :) )

Anyway, back in June 2010, a friend of our son's showed us his ecig, and out of curiosity, since the vapor wasn't bothering her, she tried it. Well, no cough, no issues, so she showed it to me. Within a month we were both vaping (we REALLY missed the smoking "experience"). So bottom line, she can't tolerate cigarette smoke at ALL, but she's vaping like a pro and I'm back to my wonderful "vape ring" habit. We're both very pleased, I'd be surprised if the vapor bothers your daughter *at all*

Best of luck and let us know how it works out for (both of) you.

LOL, yea, this place seems pretty awesome! I am in So Cal (Temecula area). So... here's where I am now... I got my first ecigs (this revolution thing, which I have not seen anywhere else besides this vapor talk store place, which, by sheer coincidence is based out of Temecula, so I had my stuff the next day haha). I like this revolution thing "OK", to me it doesn't seem to vape very well, but then again, I'm not sure what to expect exactly and its taking some getting used too. The winston carto's that come with it are pretty aweful, the battery life was like maybe 2 hours, takes AT LEAST 2 hours to charge the suckers, and overall was exactly what I expected (which is why I immediately ordered the ego-t after researching it more). Well... the more I used the revolution the better it seemed to vape for some reason. I bought some 555 liq and some blanks with that order and immediately chucked the winstons after about 5 vapes. Overall though, I went 2 days and only smoked about 6 analogs and felt pretty good about that (considering I'm a 2 pack a day smoker!). AND, I found that if I added a couple drops of this chocolate/java flavor e-liq to the 555 it added a nice sweentess to it and I preferred it even more than an analog, so even when I lit an analog I only smoked about half of it before it sorta grossed me out!

So, today I just got my ego-t and I must say, I am pretty unhappy with it. The battery life seems to be great, but it doesn''t seem to want to wick very good at all, had to let it sit upright for about an hour before it seemed to want to start wicking. It came with malboro 24mg which is actually pretty good and, after a total of about 4 hours TRYING to get it to work (batteries were fully dead when I got it too). So, once I got it vaping good I am pretty happy with the vape I get off the carts that came with it, BUT all my other juice is mostly VG and it takes forever to get it wicking (and yes, I tried all sots of things, dry hitting it etc). and when I finally got it to wick with the VG, it tastes like vaping mineral water! I just placed a huge $150 order for a bunch of juices from vaporbomb that are on the way at 50/50 vg/pg so I suspect I'll enjoy none of them now:( Oh, and I swear this ego-t is some kinda fake... the color is this candy-apple red which is unlike any others I've seen and it seems more branded to THEM than ego (it says "The Vaper Pro" on EVERYTHING)... Anyway, 1 of them is vaping well (the one with the original tank of malboro) and I get a ton of vapor now and it is more satisfying than my revolution is HIT WISE, but the flavor is seriously lacking, and now I am reading that ALOT of people seem to be having a lack of flavor problem with these ego t's... Ugh...

Anyway, going on 4 days now and I have smoked 1 pack of analogs in 4 days, but this lack of flavor now is gonna be my undoing if I don't solve this! Anybody have any suggestions?

P.S. "Monster" flavor from The Vapor Pro (it says "Wicked Vapor" on the bottle) tastes like ...! I mean, literally it tastes like the air freshener they use in a portable toilet at a campground mixed with the liquid found on the bottom of a dumpster behind the frathouse at a party collage! I mean, NASTY! the wierd thing is, it SMELLS good (not like monster, more like some mixture of citrus) but the taste was horrific! This is depressing too, cuz its the one I was really looking forward too the most. Oh well... (Lighting an analog now:(

Couldn't agree more. And do go easy on yourself when it comes to quitting. The more pressure I put on myself, the harder it was and the more frustrated I got. I bought my first PV in Jan (a 510) and didn't quit analogs until March (after I bought an KR808d1 and my eGo is on the way).

I have to second the pass-through suggestion - especially since you said you work at your computer all day. Batteries only have so many charge cycles in their life. Using a pass through will allow you to vape using power from your computer or AC and save your batteries. I'm sure if I didn't have my PT, I would have killed my batteries already.
