Ok guys right off the bat I'm going to say i was a heavy smoker, and there is no way in hell anyone could ever convince me that vaping is anywhere near being as bad for you as analogs. However, one of the reasons i switched to vaping is to not only get away from the smell, and the harmful chemicals, but Tar that weighs you down and collects in your lungs. Yesterday i went to try a clean a replacement coil and i actually for the first time realized how much nasty black gunk build up was on the coil. Now i know thats the source that directly burns the vapor to heat it up so it can turn into vapor but,if all of that gunk can build up on the coil (reminding me of tar) cant all this vapor be turning into gunk in our lungs??? has there been any type of studies on this?

It doesn't "burns the vapor", vapor is produced by boiling in the presence of air flow, mixing and binding with water in the air. It shouldn't get hot enough to ever really burn anything, and certainly when it does (dry hit) a nasty flavor is produced. Nevertheless, there are some residues left on the coil and wick that get repeatedly cooked and turn black. There may be some tiny amounts of actual burnt emission mixed with the vapor and I even wonder if it can have a positive effect on the flavor -- I like it when the flavor changes a bit at a hotter setting, just short of burning. Perhaps in the entire duration of a coil's life, nasties equal to one drag on a cig outside while a diesel truck drives by are emitted.
