Hi all,

Just want you all to remember to be careful when charging.

I may have used the wrong combination of charger and batt but I thought I'd got the correct gear.

Anyway... I know lithium batt's can be dangerous if not used correctly but I was surprised by how much 8-o

So please be careful and never leave them charging unattended :):)

Obie

holy moly,

I often leave mine charging overnight,
guess I wont be doing that anymore,
only when I am here beside them huh ??
I am gonna label my chargers to make sure I use the right ones with the right batteries!! And I'm definitely not going to leave any charging when I'm asleep8-o

Just a thought Obie, but rather than the battery being in the wrong charger, could you have put it in the right one but the wrong way round?

With one of the chargers I bought, there was a note included saying that placing the battery the wrong way round could result in damage. I have no idea if this info is correct & I'm not going to test it out. Just thought it may be something else to add to your thoughtful thread :)

Hmm this battery is a small 3.0 volt Li-Ion battery I think I will use the small 3.0 volt Li-Ion battery charger to charge this battery! Ohh ohhh now this one is a 3.7 volt Li-Ion battery! I will pop this one into the 3.7 volt Li-Ion battery charger! Whats this? a yellow battery I don't remember this one! *pops it onto volt meter* hmm 1.2 volts and as it is yellow it must be a NiCd lets charge it in the NiCd ch... BAAAAAAANG!!!! Ooops it was a Li-Ion!

If only all Nicds were yellow and all NiMHs were green and Li-Ions were blue that would be nice!

Obie, it is worrying especially as that battery is meant to be a protected battery. Plus as it's a 3.7 volt one, I can't see that you could have put it in the wrong charger either. Unless I'm being completely thick (OK I know I can be :D) but I would have thought you may at the most have a charger for 3.0v & another for 3.7v. I understand that putting a 3.0v bat in a 3.7v charger would cause problems but not the other way round?

LOL, Tribal, I also think it would help if the chargers where also colour coded :D

All Li-Ion batteries really want to charge in their own special charger. Us consumers are not supposed to have our hands on the individual cells themselves, they are very dangerous if charge improperly so the companies put them in their own pack with a charger and sometimes even a smart chip! that is probably why (along with the ehhem voltage issue) you cannot usually buy them alongside the duracells!! Nimh is a much better battery technology for this kinda stuff! Unfortunately the e-cig will have to be a lot bigger or the atomiser redisigned because they are lower voltage so more cells in series :(

Exploding mobile/cell phones, exploding ipods.. the media whitewash... I could go on..

Be careful guys...

(maybe not put any of these devices too near your crown jewels <wink, wink, nudge, nudge>)

I wish I wasn't colour blind, I can't tell when my charger goes green...

Does charge time vary or is 3 hours a safe upper limit for our GG batteries?

(I use CR2 and the 18650)

I've found that charging times for mine really vary. One of my chargers is REALLY slow. So perhaps you should check with a multimeter after a few hours if you can't see the colour difference on the charging light?
