Just another noob with the same ol questions

I'm a new member so this is my forum. Woohoo!!

Hello All!
I'm a smoker of almost 20 yrs who has decided to take the route most of you have which is to vape instead of smoke(At least that's the goal). For the last week I've been reading these and other forums, watching youtube videos etc... Just trying to get a sense on what is going on in the vaping world.

Now it's at the point where I'm ready to take the plunge and go smoke-free. My intention is to not be smoking any analogs past the first week of vaping. But not exactly sure which way to go with my first purchase. Just want this first purchase to be a wise one and satisfying enough that I can reach my goal to get off analogs. After trying to quit numerous times before without success, This time just has to work...It's going to dammit!! :D

So much to take in for a noobie, With all these different categories of PV, and the different products within these categories it gets overwhelming. Top this off with so many dishonest reviews from people implanted, or trying to make a buck off discount codes, or given free products..and then there is the cheerleaders of whatever product which don't give a fair shake to any other, I'm finding it hard to get good information.

Through all the murk, This is a pretty great forum community and there are enough opinions to find the middle ground thankfully. I'm really glad to have found this place as a resource and hope to join the ranks of the overly opinionated as time goes on. Thanks!!

At this moment, I'm thinking either the eGo or the Bloog MaxxFusion or perhaps even a mod.

It seems like the BMF is more what I'm looking for, but I see that there has been several issues with customer service and communication as of late. In an industry where most orders are going to be online and Customer Service plays a huge role, makes me a bit nervous. It's also a bit pricy as a beginning purchase imo. I'd also like to find out more about the mini before purchasing but have been unable to find ample amount of input concerning that product.

As far as the eGo goes, there are several types and I don't know the differences. The Joye Ego seems like a popular one..but it seems there are different types of those as well? Is there a eGo resource page which can answer some of my eGo questions.

for example I found a tigcig Joye eGo at a nice price here at Electronic Cigarette Vaporized TIGCIG JOYE EGO - $26.99 . I don't know anything about the site or if it's a real Joye eGo or if it matters even. Best price I've seen, Not sure about S&H prices because it requires creating an account to see that part, I guess.

Anyway, Any help in the right direction is greatly appreciated. I'm still going to give it a few days to make my final decision and will probably be making more posts with even more questions on even more products as the date nears closer and my brain is about to explode.

Thanks,
Pretty overwhelmed.

Hi! Welcome to ECF! I would recommend Liberty-Flights for the purchase of your eGo. You'll get 20% off your order by clicking on the Discount Code tab and their service is fantastic! Make sure you get at least two extra atomizers and plenty of juice (I'd say around 40-60mls of different flavors and maybe a couple of different nic levels.) I smoked for over 20 years at around a pack and a half to 2 packs per day and started with 24mg juice. I'm down to 18mg now, so I would suggest getting a couple in both of those levels if you were a heavy smoker.

That link was pretty overwhelming too, LOL.

I am new to vaping as well. When I had initially looked at e-cigs I had in my mind a way that I thought that they should function, and I wasn't finding the functionality I was seeking. But since finding the eGo-T tank system which was exactly how I thought an e-cig should be, I took the plunge and got a kit. The eGo's seem to have the best battery life from what I have read from others. I can say that I get about 4 days of vaping from my eGo-T with a 1000mAh battery and consuming an average of a tankful per day.

You seem to be doing your research, so I recommend going with whatever system feels like it would be the right fit for your lifestyle.

I'd recommend altsmoke if you plan to purchase an eGo starter kit. My brother just ordered one from them. I had a chance to try it, I like it, and eGo is highly recommended by so many forum members.

I could be wrong, but I think altsmoke is cheaper than libertyflights for the eGo starter kit. Altsmoke sells theirs for $55. With the 20% discount, it is over $60 on libertyflights. But don't take my word for it because I did a very quick search, please compare shipping costs, and the contents of the starter kits at both locations to make sure they are the same.

Riva 510 kit is only 29.99 at LF. (Lite bundle with 20% off)(Shipping is 2.99 for whole order:)
Same as EGO with bigger batteries.(750-riva---650 Ego)
Also get 2 batteries -2 attys --looked like other site only was 1 each.(battery anyway)
Have 1 of each--Riva better slightly between the 2 for less money :)
NO ONE is cheaper for the Riva/Ego type PV.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with the above posters about price and customer support. Liberty Flights is a winner in both areas. Remember to click on the 20% discount at top of their page OR enter - ECF - in the checkout discount code both. Either one gets you 20% off the list prices. They ship your entire order via Priority Mail for just $2.99.

Here is an example of some of their discounted prices:
eGo kit special offer is $40
Riva 510 (a comparable kit) is $30
eGo Tank system is $64

Someone already mentioned it, but I will say it too. You need to think about extra atomizers or cartomizers and juice

There are many great suppliers here in this forum. Our members have used them and will be happy to give you feedback. Just ask. Hope this helps a little.

Happy Vaping,
Paula

Buyers Guide - Who might buy this product
This device is suitable for all types of vapers. The main drawback of the standard 510 starter kit is the battery life and the Riva improves in this department by allowing for 4 times as long between charges. It delivers great throat hit and masses of vapour so delivers a very satisfying vape. Given that it has a much larger capacity battery it can handle low resistance atomizers that simply drain standard batteries too quickly and damage them. For new users, it carries across the same easy use principles from the standard kit and for established users the problems with multiple batteries is no more. The main draw back is that they look less like standard cigarettes than older models because of the larger diameter battery.
Overall, the Riva 510 is a versatile e-cigarette due to it's ease of use, low start up and running cost and excellent performance. Currently, the Riva 510 is the device we use at Liberty Flights.

Hello,

Sounds like you've been doing some reading are are pretty well informed prior to making your first PV purchase. Good for you!

Smoke-free within a week is an ambitious goal and I wish you well with that. It took me a month+ to finally ween off the cancer-sticks after picking up vaping. Just took me a while to learn the ins-and-outs of vaping, and to get comfortable and confident with it. I did drop dramatically from a pack a day to a pack a week instantly and was pretty happy with that when first starting.

You didn't mention how much you smoke, but if it's up around a pack-a-day or more, the bigger batt eGo is more likely to be a better way to start than the Bloog. The Bloog is a good quality KR808D battery afaik, but still of fairly limited capacity due to small size, and also they are all auto batteries (i believe). Most people end up using manual batteries after getting started because
- they're sealed and liquid can't leak into and ruin them
- better control over activation, the auto switches can be glitchy which can be frustrating

I'd suggest refraining from a MOD purchase until you get your feet and better understand what your preferences are. One advantage an eGo type batt has over the skinny batts is that they're powerful enough to use with LR (low resistance) atomizers and cartos. I don't know if you would prefer LR stuff or not, but with an eGo like setup you could try them and see.

There are several eGo (and eGo like models, Riva,VGo,Go-Go). Of these the eGo and the Riva are more often mentioned than the others (i think). Some of the differences between them are...

* The type of atomizer/cartomizer connection on the device. Some accept 510 attys, others KR8 cartos (and 901 attys). The cones are sized slightly differently too to better fit either 510 attys or KR8 cartos. The native threading isn't all that important because there are very inexpensive adapters which allow you to attach different batts to different attys and cartos. The original eGo has 510 fittings.

* On some the power output is regulated down to about 3.2v and provide that output more consistently thru the drain cycle. Others are not regulated and output the voltage of the battery directly (which drops from 3.7 as the batt drains). The original eGo is regulated.

* Some have bigger batts with higher charge capacity. The larger batts have 900 mah (and even 1300 mah now i think). The original eGo is 650 mah.

Whatever kit you get, you'll probably want at least 2 batteries and 2 attys to start with. The kit you linked to only has 1. LiteCigUSA is a pretty good general purpose hardware vendor. There are others too, cignots and liberty-flights maybe.

Good luck with getting started!

Sorry, i just posted that above to have something to look at.
Are the eGo and the Riva 510 the same size? The eGo 650mah and Riva 510 are about the same size

I see several mods and addons for the eGo at various sites. Can you do a tank for the Riva 510, Is it as adaptable? YES(ps: I still have no clue wtf I'm talking about)

Hope this helps

The eGo and the Riva 510 are pretty close to the same thing, whatever can be screwed onto an eGo batt can also be screwed on to the Riva 510. I'm not sure of the voltage on the Riva 510 is regulated as it is on the eGo? Maybe somebody else can chime in on that? The 20% off deal at liberty-flights looks pretty good.

Thanks for these suggestions. Been very helpful. I've been reading up and it seems the Riva 510 is a great deal and makes sense. Though I haven't quite counted out the Joye eGo-T.
I've pretty much decided to hold off on the BMF for now though I likely will in the future. Just out of curiosity. Will the BMF carto work with a Riva 510?

I'm also looking at the ProVape or Provari. I coincidentally looked at the banner above and it happened to be a Provari ad, Is it a sign?......Nahhhhhh
