What the previous poster is saying is that when you wrap the wire around/under the post screw, you need to make sure your going clockwise around the screw, not counter clockwise. Some decks it doesn't matter, but some have post screws that are fussy about how you trap the wire. Try wrapping the lead of your coil clockwise around the screw, then tighten the screw keeping a little tension on the wire.

I've done that and it still just doesn't work. No matter what it squeezes the kanthal out from underneath it. I have it working now, but I literally had to wrap the kanthal around the screw then tighten the screw. But I can't screw it down all the way because it will push the kanthal out. It isn't giving a solid reading either because the kanthal isn't tight enough. I'm just going to go back to b&m tomorrow and try and get them to switch out this deck or something.

make 1 loop around the screw clockwise and hold the loop
then screw the screw in;; screwing the screw in requires you to screw in clockwise, that's why you wrap it clockwise;

as for a solid reading, if it seems to vary by 0.1 ohm that might just be normal depending on what you are measureing with.

It was reading all over the place. All over the map lol. Lowest was a .9 highest was a 3.4

I've tried that as well. I really think it is the screws. They aren't flat to where it can trap the kanthal.

That could very well be it, honestly. Trust me when I say I have a LOT of experience at attaching wires, and I've had a few devices that were just horrible to work with. There is one I have somewhere at home, the underside of the screw heads are not only too small to trap anything but 30 and 32 gauge, they're also almost tapered like a drywall screw, so they tend to push the wire out no matter how careful you are.

Well that's definitely a connection type problem;

did you torch the coil? If its a compact coil (micro coil) it might just be shorting out: 3.4 ohm shorting out to 0.9 ohm

or else the connection on the screw posts are poor; when you torch the coil you don't want to torch the lead wires that have to screw down on the screw posts

They are definitely tapered atty the bottom. I feel that's the problem. I have a taifun gt, when I first bought it I was having the same problem. And that's because the screw was tapered.
