I thought about buying one of those types since they were so much cheaper, but wound up going with the Bernz-o-Matic for reliability and versatility. Some things, you get what you pay for.

Did that one come full of fuel? Did you try refilling it? Silly questions, but the first thing a mechanic should check if the car won't start is the gas tank.

That's why I bought the one I linked. Best reviews of any if them there with more to boot! And mine didn't come worth fuel...I had to fill it myself, but its super easy.

I was thinking about buying something like that, but I ended up with a propane brazing torch instead. The kit was $15 at Home Depot.
Here
It's compact enough for me. The self igniting tip is available, but with the amount of lighters around the house from my smoking days, it would have been redundant for me to buy the more expensive self igniting tip.
Reliability wise, it lights each and every time. I've used it to light a grill for grilling nights, braze some solder onto a pipe I was working on, and torch my wicks for my RBA's.
But like with all torches, exercise caution while using them and follow the safety precautions on the label.

Try and stick a needle down the tip, there could be something blocking the hole. Do you hear the gas flow when it is on? There really is not much to those.

Yea I hear the gas, and I noticed that when I light it flame comes out of the lower airholes now
