I do love it. The flavor is awesome, and I don't get that junky, nasty flavor after a couple fills with cartos. But the clearos I'm used to are way old school (plastic cylindrical tube, lots of gaskets, doesn't hold a whole lot), plus the whole bottom feeder is a new ballgame for me. But so far, I like this product more than almost anything (except dripping of course).

I've got the inner workings more or less figured out. I disassembled it before I even filled it for the first time. I get how to change the er...what do you call it? Replacement heads? I just need a little help figuring out how to clean it. I figured I'd rinse the shell with hot water, as well as the coil set up. But what else can I do? Can I dry burn it like I did with the old school clearos? Or is that a bad idea? Is there some way to flush it? Help!

Evod is not much different from other clearo's, take off the bottom and clean as you have in the past, the mouthpiece,(driptip), stays put unfortunately, so that kind of restricts the flow of water. Yes you should be able to dry burn it, as long as you didn't replace the factory wicks with something like cotton. Rinse the short wicks if you want to remove more of the the old flavor.

I would recommend leaving the little silicone cap on the coil head, if only because there are small pieces of wick on top of the main wick, the so called flavor wicks, sometimes it can be a pain to put them back if they are disturbed.

The fact that you can replace/rebuild the heads is a plus, saves you money in the long run. Enjoy your Evods, and just to let you know, most of the Kanger Bottom Coil Clearos,(BCC), are very similar, as well as those made by others. So once you master the Evod, you have a leg up on the others if you should decide to try them.

Been using Evod's an their cousin GS-H2 for close to two months exclusively and I tried everything to clean them and nothing worked like rebuilding the coil. I tried everclear, denture cleaner, water soak, boiling water, dry burn , I even bought an ultrasonic cleaner and zapped for half hour... no dice,
nothing restored the taste.Dry burning was the best of the above method but taste was off.
then I used 2 mm Silica and 32 AWG Kathal to wrap my own coils, torched the coil and wick before installation and trust me the taste is on par with dripping Atomizer minus the hassle of dripping. Now it takes me about 5 minutes to rebuild the coil and due to torching the taste is amazing.
I forgot to say that after coil is installed I put 1mm torched Silica on top for flavor wick.
The wicking is fantastic and cost me peanuts per rebuild.

Well see that's a bit of a problem. My MO for cleaning the old school clearos was a power flush (basically forcing hot water in and out of the clearo rapidly with a syringe) and dry burn. You say I can dry burn it, which is good news certainly! But I can't power flush it. I'd need to have liquid flow in through the bottom and out through the top. I can't see much I can do about this. But I might try a clear grain alcohol soak if I have to. But....I mean, about $5 a pop at the local B&M, as long as I can keep the wicks and coil fairly clean by not slacking off on rinsing and dry burning, I suppose I can afford to replace them often enough.

Thanks. And thanks to everyone else too!

I honestly don't have a clue about rebuilding. Is there any sort of guide on here you might be able to link me to? That does sound like something I'd be interested in, just on an experimental level. Do I need any special equipment to do this?

Kanger EVOD T3 MT3 Bottom Coil Atomizer Rebuild HD Close Up - YouTube

Google rebuild Evod head and all sorts of results show up, this is just one video. People have their own little tricks and preferences as far as wire and wick material go. I used 32 gauage Kanthal and 3mm silica wick. One thing to be aware of, if you use cotton, don't dry burn it, you will burn the wick.

The alcohol bath I have never tried, normally just a good rinse and sometimes a dry burn. But like all things vaping, people have their preference on what to use. Use what works for you, my way may not be your way, experiment. Temco is a good source for wire, they have a web site and are on Ebay also. As for wick, I really haven't found a great place, look around.

Just on the one point about replacing if needed - you wouldn't (hardly ever) need to replace the whole EVOD for $5.
You just buy replacements of the head/coil/core (people use all three terms).
They're all over the place - especially now that Kanger is using the same one for the ProTank line...
Here's a "copy" that people say is OK (i just got some - haven't used them yet) for $0.82.
Here's the brand name for $1.20, and you can find specials on em sometimes, too...

I haven't started rebuilding them yet myself, though I did buy some wire and wick. It's just so danged TINY! LOL

Oh wait! Maybe I can power flush it. Maybe if I get some plastic tubing that'll get a good seal just around the head set up....I'll have to check out The Home Depot soon.

That's not necessary. I don't even bother with anything other than piping hot tap water into the bottom and running out the top and down the air tube. Then it and the head/coil/base gets the same treatment. They go into a bowl or measuring cup full of hot water for a few minutes to soak. Another rinse and good to go! You can either let the wicks air dry or dry burn them. But don't dry burn if you're using cotton! :D

Every two or three days I just rinse under hot water, dry with a paper towel, refill and go. It takes a few draws to get rid of water, but then all's good.

I got wick and wire when I was using T3s, but I haven't rebuilt an eVod. Replacement heads only cost me about $3 a month, and I used to spend that much on one pack on cigs.

I am currently vaping on an EVOD head that I have been using since June 3rd (so nearly 3 months). I clean every 7-10 days when it starts tasting a little funny or my juice starts looking darker than it should. Here is my procedure.

Required items:
Bathroom sink with an a stopper (so pieces don't go down the drain).
Pliers
Tweezers
Paper Towel
Vodka or Grain alcohol such as Everclear.
Small container with a sealed lid (I use an old pharmacy pill bottle that has a rubber seal in the top)

1. Stop up the sink (VERY IMPORTANT). And lay out a sheet of paper towel next to the sink.
2. Remove the Base from the tank of the EVOD and dump any remaining juice out of the tank.
3. Rinse the tank and mouthpiece thoroughly and set the tank aside on the paper towel.
4. Remove the white rubber cap, rinse this and set aside on the paper towel.
5. Using the pliers carefully wiggle the long center pole out of the head. NOTE: leave the head attached to the base.
6. Rinse the center pole and set aside on the paper towel.
7. Using the tweezers carefully remove the "flavor wick", rinse and set aside on the paper towel.
8. Now dry burn the coil and coiled wick while blowing directly into it until the gunk is gone from the coil, the coils glow evenly, and all smoking stops. NOTE: we have NOT rinsed the head or base yet.
9. Remove the head from the base and drop it into a small container with the vodka or grain alcohol, cover and gently shake a bit then set this aside.
10. Rinse the base and set aside on the paper towel.
11. Let the head soak for about 15-20 min.
12. Remove the head from the alcohol and rinse in the sink.
13. Make sure all of the pieces are dry, roll the flavor wick on the paper towel to get it dry and pat the ends of the coiled wicks to dry as much as possible.
14. Attach the head to the base and dry burn again to get the remaining water out. As soon as the coils start to glow you are done.
15. Either use the tweezers to put the original flavor wick back in place OR I will often change it out for a piece of cotton yarn and then replace that as necessary.
16. Push the center pole back into place making sure the flavor wick is in position and the pole is seated all the way down.
17. Push the white rubber cap back down on the pole making sure it is properly seated.
18. Refill the tank, screw the base back into the tank, wait a few second for the wicks to prime and enjoy.

I don't know from Evods (yet), so let me pretend you asked about the T3s. After removing the head and washing in warm water, I run water into the head with a Water Pic on a low setting. I do this from both directions, followed by the same power flush while blocking the opposite end of the air tube. The water comes burbling out of the wicks and seems to do a decent job of flushing both coil and wick. I do this not more often than every two refills.

I dunno guys... have you ever took one apart after the power flush and whatnot?
It's still full of gunk everywhere and that degrades the taste.

This is why I use the detailed method I posted above. The initial dry burn gets rid of the gunk and build up on the coil but leaves a burnt smell and taste, following that with the vodka bath eliminates that smell and taste, and the final water rinse gets rid of any remaining particulates that were loosened by the soak. The result is an almost new looking and tasting head.
