When using an atty for the first time you'll want to blow out the primer fluid that's in it. If you don't you'll be sorry. Just take the protective cart off if it has one and blow hard through it with a paper towel on the other end to catch the fluid. Do this until no more liquid comes out. Next drip 3 or 4 drops of
juice on the atty. For the cart just drip around 10 or so drops but watch to see that it doesn't get overfull. Just keep dripping until it looks moist but not pooled. Some people say it looks slushy when it's just right.
Next put the atty on the battery, and the cart on the atty. Take about 5 drags but don't inhale. There's still a bit of primer in there and it's nasty. After those 5 cautiously inhale one hit. If it's bearable you're set, if it's still nasty take a few more hits without inhaling and try again. Keep in mind that atty's can take an hour to 1/2 a day to break in so give it a chance.
