just got my 901 penstyle ...newbie questions

My friend had got one & when I tried it, it kicked me in the throat and I thought, "Hey, I could get used to this & quit smoking!"

I got mine today & it's just not kicking me in the throat. It's like sucking on air. I'd compare to a super-ultra light cig or even the nicotrol inhaler. I got a pretty old-school nicotine buzz (like after your first cig in high school) but I still wanted a cigarette afterward.

Am I doing something wrong? I place my finger over the little hole in the atomizer & get a decent amount of vapor, but it's still like sucking on air.

With my friend's e-cig, I could feel it hit my throat and feel the exhale--very simliar to a real cigarette.

Hello, with your penstyle do you have a DSE-801 or an RN-4072? RN is older.

901 penstyle? pens are 801, the 901 are the mini's and they have an air hole, not the pens. I use both and the pen is my fave. the mini 901's are my back ups, but when my finger was on the air hole, I never could even inhale

A new atomizer takes some time to break in. Did you get the same e-cig as your
friend? Some e-cigs just doesn't work right. If you got the same e-cig as your
friend than it may be the atomizer needs breaking in or your batteries not charged
good.

my mistake...I don't know what sort of ecig my friend has. I didn't realize the 901 was the mini. Can I get an atomizer for the 801 & attach to the 901 battery? Sorry, all this stuff has me a bit confused (obviously)

Sorry, but no, you can't do that. The 801 components are larger than the 901.


To get the best performance out of any PV:

-make sure your batteries are fully charged
-make sure your carts are topped off
-make sure your atomizer is primed (1 or 2 drops of eliquid on the mesh screen)

What kind of e-cig does your friend have? In my opinion mini's e-cig are not
as good as the pen e-cigs. I also do not know, what kind you did buy. What brand of e-cig? All of this matters alot. The first e-cig I bought in December 2007 was a off brand
mini and a piece of junk. There are some good mini's e-cigs. To help you we all need
more information.

I don't think what my friend got was a mini (as I understand it, a mini is very small like a king cigarette, correct?) My friend's ecig is longer, like mine, yep, like an ink pen. However he doesn't know what he has! I won't see him till tomoorow at work....

I ordered my 901 at Best E Cig so I am unsure if it's a generic. I charged the battery overnight so it should be good to go.

I do apologize, I am quite sure I must be the most annoying newbie. I've read just about everything I could on ecigs. There's just so much inof, I tend to get confused

I was really just thinking of getting an 801. This 901 is frustrating me

Use a diffrent E liquid. I bought some chocolate liquid and some watermelon. and the watermelon didnt give me a throat hit like the chocolate did. So try diffrent liquids!

when i get the eliquid, should i drip it into a cart or directly inside? Can i use the little carts that came with the 901 or should i get some empties?

Ahhh, get a few empty carts, but if you want you can refill the carts with polyfiberfill from walmart, Its cheap! Simply pull out the old junky filling and refill with fresh filling.

( I would squeeze the left over juice in your old cart fillings into a leftovers jar if you really want to save that liquid, before cleaning or replacing the filler) Its not good to run your cart dry all the way a bunch of times.
or just toss the filler or liquid, its up to you how much time you want to spend working on your e-cig, compared to how much money you want to save in the long run

I would say a single cart could be refilled 4 times, but this is just a guess, you will have to decide depending on funky taste if you refill too much without cleaning the filler or replacing it.

You can pull out the cart filler, if its not browned or burnt you can wash it and put it back in!

Someone said not get poly fiberfill that has flame ......ant cause it would off gas and smoke a little from the heat. Some carts are filled with like a corn husk type material, some have wool/cotton.

You can drip directly or use the carts but if one method doesnt work try the other. Some people say they use different methods dripping or cart wicking with different models. I see posts going either way.

Thanks everyone. To be honest, I haven't had much time to fool with the 901 and saving $ is an issue. I'll try to mess with it a bit more but I'll surely be back here. I'm wide open for more suggestions if anyone's got 'em
