Also, for ejuice - with 1.8 and 2.2 ohm resistance coil tanks, what is the highest wattage i should not exceed on my itaste?

For something like the iTaste vv4, the +2 rule of thumb works pretty darn good.

Take the resistance of your coil and add 2 to it. So for your 1.8 ohm coil, set your iTaste to 3.8 volts. Give it a try and if necessary, adjust the voltage up or down until you dial it in for the best results.

haha burnt socks, thanks guys, I just wanted to be sure it was safe to keep turning it up. My new tank gets kinda warm so I got worried. Its a nautilus aspire mini

Now we're talking! :)

The mini Nautilus 1.8ohm coil is safe up to 5 volts, unless you are using very high VG.

I use variable wattage on my mods for mini Nautilus. I hit 5.0v routinely. Sometimes 5.1!
(5.2 is getting a bit scary....) :)

djsvapour I don't understand why you keep saying volts if you are using the wattage setting -.-

My itaste only lets me adjust wattage or volts, not both. Do bigger mods do both ?

Your iTaste will offer both (?), but not at the same time... once you select one method, you go up or down to suit your taste.
If you use volts (1.8ohm coil) then don't go over 5.0v unless you are confident you can go another step.
If you use watts, then I think the iTaste only goes to 15 and I would stop at 14 until you feel confident.

Okay so my tank getting warm at 9 watts is perfectly normal then (I hope).
Yeah, you are probably just chain vaping.. its your coil and juice likely heating up, if it was the battery, you would know it.. it would be getting REALLY hot.

Im using a vplum battery with a kanger toptank mini rba. I usually run 9-16 watts. 16 atm. All you really need to worry about is if you build your own coils, make sure you keep your ramp up time low. So nothing fancy. Claptons are pretty much out unless you use like 34ga. LOL I built a dual coil on this thing once.. just to say I did it.. OMG it was a pain in the.... patoot.. It was like knitting hairs into a doily.

can chain vaping cause a tank to explode ? Im always very paranoid about ecigs and explosions =( Because of those people who got hurt in the media.

What can I say? Stupid kills. Just .. not enough to really help.
Every incident you see in the news can be debunked at user stupidity. "I was just holding it" is about as believable as getting pregnant off a public toilet seat.

Teen gets hole in tongue from an ecig.. = Teen did not check his batteries and build and used a device to advanced for his level.
14 yr old blinded by ecig = 14 yr old idiot points mech mod at his face and holds the fire button down until battery exploded.

What it comes down to is people trying to rush into things because they see a viral video or for whatever reason. They see videos of advanced users making advanced coils for an advanced build, and try to mimic it. ANYONE who EVER made a clapton knows these first attempts are only good for one thing.. Uncoiling to use to wire paired sets of good coils together.

Easy coil builds for noobies

Look for Taowulf's post ... Claptons can seem simple, for and example. He shows his early attempts and his now builds. LOL That early attempt I wouldn't fire unless I was in a trench behind a blast way.

With regulated mods (var volt/watt/temp) you are pretty safe unless you are abnormally stupid.

And if you have any questions about building coils and such, just ask.(**KACK! Gym SOCKS!** lol crank the dial down to 14 watts.. ), Time to fill the tank.

Anyway.. usually when you see incidents related to vaping accidents, it is user error or inexperience. Like not following safety rules with mech mods.. like checking your batteries before and after every charge. And if your Regulated mod is getting really hot, but it down for awhile so it can cool and then lower your power settings.

Now, I could build a coil on this 16w ecig that would explode the battery, if i tried hard enough, but i'm not going to do it. The reason I mention this is there are a ton of safety features you would have to ignore and actually have to work at getting the battery to blow. lol. For example, I could build a single coil with 20ga Kanthal at 0.8 ohm.. and fire for 9.5 seconds repeatedly at 16 watts. 10 seconds is the auto off feature to prevent battery over heating.. but that would be deliberate stupidity, and i only mention it to demonstrate how you would actually have to try to circumvent safety features to cause a dangerous situation on regulated mods. Basically.. keep in mind.. the longer you have to fire a mod to heat a coil, the more strain you put on the battery. This is why, as far as I know, a mech modder won't even tough a battery that isn't rated for at least 35amp burst and 20 amp sustained. (ignore that @clown on youtube "recycling" lap top batteries..)

PS.. And I chain vape all the time. Even worse.. I practice tricks and cloud chucking. *lol* Had do buy 0 mg juice to do it. Just stay within the safe range of your mod and you won't have any issues. Also.. avoid Mechanical Mods until you can build a coil without using a coil building tool. Just like a parachutist will not let anyone else pack his parachute, why rely on somebody elses math on a web site when you face is on the line? Actually it is a good site and you can use it, but you should be able to build coils without it before going into mechs.

I only use factory made tanks and itaste / ego style batteries so far. Thanks so much for your help GBalkam, my fellow east coaster ;) Newfie here !
Oh.. that't what they all say starting out. LOL. My "time to learn to build coils" came at 1am on a Sunday night when my last atomizer burned out and I was left with 3 bottles of juice and nothing to vape it on except a spoon and a bic lighter. LOL
