I think you are probably right on as the Smoke Tip cartos i received work great with the their batteries.
They also work great with all my manual batts also, but usually a vendor wants everything on HIS equipment to work at it's optimum so as to make a happy customer.
I haven't had any trouble with my manual batteries, but I have had trouble with some autos because the center conductor is pushed down too far for the carto to make contact & when it is a auto you can't just look to see if it is firing. your mouth is over it.
