So, today marks 2 weeks of zero cigarettes for me. I know that's only 14 days but believe me when i say that out loud i find it incredible. Two weeks ago i'd have put money on me not getting to this point! Today is proving to be really difficult - am finding that i'm having to reason with myself - when i had to go shopping i actually sat in the car thinking do i/don't i buy just one pack and then ease off again BUT, thankfully i just drove home (without any shopping but also without cigarettes). Am looking forward to bed time today!!!!

I do know that everyone is different and that there are no hard and fast rules BUT i would be really interested in getting feedback from others who switched straight from smoking cigarettes to e-cigs who were smoking 1-2 packs per day (for 30 years in my case). I'm just curious to hear from you how long it took before you generally found it easier? Thanks in advance!

Congrats on two weeks! That's a big step. I had it pretty easy to transition as well and was just as surprised as you. Some do have it tougher, and there are some who never get it to work. Like anything, success is never 100%. Glad you made it into the success group.
Early days yet i think..... just hoping that the longer i stick this out that it will stick with me :)

A few times I lit a cig took a puff and put it in the ashtray. That allowed me to satisfy that Psych need. Then I just vaped while it burned down. Only took a few times until that was a bit repulsive- getting that stinky.

After 30 cigs aday and 30yrs, it took me maybe 6wks. I allowed myself 3-6 per day during that time. Then one day I was going to go out for one and just decided that I was done.

You are probably done :) Go celebrate.

I smoked 47 years 2+pad. I had my last cigarette at 7mos in. When the urge hit I would smoke one and then go right back to vaping. I think the biggest factor in keeping me vaping was finding a juice I liked. You will have the craving once in awhile I think it is more psychological than physical. I didn't find that smoking one occasionally made me want to go back to smoking full time but of course everyone is different. I was committed to giving up cigs, I spent my whole months ciga budget of 250.00 on my first kit over 6 years ago, thank heavens it worked cause it had to. Vaping has definitely gotten cheaper since then plus I have learned so much with building coils and making juice. It will work just give it time.

14 days is no small thing when we smoked as long as we have. Your doing great! I have a small setup that has higher nicotine that is also a tobacco flavor (closest I could find) and puffed on that when I felt like I needed a cigarette. I don't use it much anymore, but it did help me to get over the initial cravings. I did smoke and vape for a couple months before I vaped only, but everyone is different. Just stick with it, and do what works for you and you'll find those cravings getting less and less.

It gets easier but even now I sometimes get cravings. Though rare, and usually when i've had a really bad day.

When I smoked I kept my butts in an air tight coffee can. I still have it. Whenever I feel like smoking I take a big wiff, make an ugly face, and run to my vaporizer.

Life long smoker here and when I switched to vaping I found it to be relatively easy. I started with a vape pen and 24 mg nicotine juice. That gave me the throat hit and nicotine I needed to pretty much kill the cravings. I didn't see where the OP listed his setup but if you are struggling...up the nicotine.

i pass a small milestone today...in days not smoked...but i remember getting through my first week and thinking...i really can do this!
the ECF has been invaluable both in support and knowledge sharing. my transition would not have been as smooth if it weren't for the good folk on here.
    keep up the fantastic work.

    Wow! Two weeks is fantastic!

When I started vaping, I still had most of a carton left. I didn't dare get rid of them until I was sure. If I had tried to just quit cold turkey, I would have had a panic attack and never been able to do it.

Instead I played around with vaping. Different flavors. Different atties. Different colors. And, just tried to see how long I could go until my next cigarette. I had only twice gone one day without smoking. Only when I was deathly ill or unconscious in the hospital.

By the time I had gone two weeks without smoking, I knew it was going to work. It was an absolute miracle!

    Congratulations!

2+ pad for over 45 years. I wasn't recovering fast enough after gallbladder surgery. Lungs hurt, coughed nearly every breath and generally feeling lousy. Stopped at the only vape shop in town, told the clerk what I smoked and general flavor profile that I liked. Walked out with a tiny Evod, 60ml of peppermint juice in 24mg nic and never lit another kool. Its been over 4 years this month. I started feeling better after a week and the cough went away.
I wouldn't deny yourself a cigarette, if that is what you need. Many others quit through dual use. There is no guilt or shame with tailoring your journey to your specific needs. The goal is to quit smoking and harm reduction. This is a journey, not a race.

I've been vaping a long time and still have days I want to grab a pack of cigarettes. I just end up hitting up a vape shop or site and buy something for vaping. I haven't saved money, actually spent more vaping. I'd rather spend more money a month on wants like a tank, rda or mod, then spend on something that felt like a need (smoking). Plus side is if I spend all my money on vape gear, I have none left to buy cigarettes with, lol.
