I'd like to introduce myself real quick. I'm a resident of Mississippi, I am 23, college student, I have been smoking for 6 years with about 4.5 - 5 pack years under my belt.

I was definitely a pack, pack and a half a day smoker with no intentions of quitting. Heavy addict, regulated my moods with cigarettes.

However, I came down with H1N1/Swine Flu and literally could not physically bring myself to smoke.

This lasted about four days, I was about to head into summer and as a college student that meant no money, and I had been lamenting a significant decrease in lung capacity and general overall health, so I was like "Whatever, I might as well quit."

Three months later, here I am, haven't had a single cigarette since that day. But I am nostalgic for it. I miss the tactile sensation of smoking. I don;t crave it, I haven't had a craving since the second or third week. I don't even think about cigarettes often, at all, maybe once or twice a week.

But having stumbled across e-cigs, I became curious, and am considering picking the hobby/habit up. So after four days of general research across the multivarious shops and sites and watching a good many youtube videos, here I am.

I am here to try to find a particularly good start kit or the like. I have a list of bullet-points about what I'm looking for drawn up, was wondering if it's best to post that in this forum or elsewhere after I hit the 5 post count?

Hey third,

very nice to meet you! :)

I would begin here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/electronic-cigarette-reviews/96096-best-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

Don's Post here helped myself as well as many others. vaping is def worth trying out if you miss the smoking addiction. you can vape without nicotine and get a variety of flavors. I hope to see more of you on the forums :)

P/S - i Use the KR808D-1 from Vapor4life.com. Its a very simple PV with only two parts. The batteries are great as well as the flavor selection of the carts that are used with it. V4L also has a very good following with a GREAT customer service area. my .02$ :)

-cheers

If you've managed to kick the habit perhaps try 0 nic things if you really are hooked on the psychological/social aspects of smoking. (If you can, not picking up anything again is best.)

There's a super multi-part intro in the ECF Library area.
I bought one kit, it didn't do much for me other than let me see that this had potential. Looked at info on this forum, went to a KR808D-1, and became a happy camper.
Good luck!

Welcome, I suggest the Ego from Puresmoker. It is on sale right now for almost as cheap as a 510 and battery life is way better.

Thanks, those are the two I keep hearing, the Joye 510 and the Ego or Tornado. The thing is, the Ego/Tornado doesn't have the aesthetic look I'm going for.

Aesthetics are going to be a big one for me. What I REALLY want it something like the Blu / Volcano / Firelight, the nice PCC, the sleek look, definitely an Automatic battery, like a sexy cigarette sized piece of awesomeness, BUT:

The Blu and Volcano have not only horrible reviews, but some of the worst product reputation I've ever seen in a field.

I simply refuse to accept that we should have to sacrifice aesthetics for quality across the board as vapers.

I want something as close to a Blu or the other similar overly-nice-looking brands, but with passable battery life, high vapor production, and good throat hit, that I can easily refill with my own e-liquid ("dripping"?) and good longevity. Possible?

The V4L and NHaler KR808D-1 cigs are both actually KR808D-1 based 2 part units, look like a cigarette. You can buy the batteries (the body of the cigarette) in different colors, and the cartomizers (the filter part, that contains the atomizer and fluid) are also multi colored.

Stylistically I like the cig form factor too. I've been happy with the throat hit and vapor production of the KR808 cartos -- the NHaler pre-filled Marlboro cartridges, and V4L's Dunhall (which has a strong European style hit/taste).

Only been using these a short time, but doing your own carto refills turns out to be ridiculously easy, lets you experiment with flavors and nic levels, low unit cost.

I would suggest checking out TastyVapor web site. The sell Flavored "doubler" 0mg liquid, 4 oz for $15

So get a bottle of their liquid with nicotine plus the doubler of the same flavor and you can chose the level of nicotine by mixing.

Mixing is simple
If you bought 36mg tobacco and the doubler
50-50 would result in 18mg e-liquid without flavor loss

Or just smoke the "doubler" for zero nicotine.

I was in a similar situation regarding what I wanted. I liked the Blu aesthetics and I ordered one. It isn't too bad if you put a little effort into modding the carts, but I really wanted that look with bigger carts and less of a quick drop off in battery performance.

I ended up getting a Sidesho from Modern Vapor (I bought the 902 while I was at it because I like to have toys). I love it as my Blu replacement. It's longer than the Blu was but has been working like a champ for me so far.

There are certainly a lot of other options out there, though. I just thought I'd throw in what has worked for me so far. :)
