I've been wanting to make this mod for some time now. Been eyeballing other peoples designs, and finally felt confident to do it. I made it out of some random tool in my garage. It only took about an hour and $4.00 for a 200omh resistor and a 3amp switch.

This is the atty connector I ripped out of a dead 510 battery. I had to use a pipe cutter to do it.

This is the inside of the tool I gutted for the passthru. It has the switch mounted in this picture, but nothing is wired yet.

Then I got excited and forgot to take pictures during the rest of the process. :p I put the 220omh resistor between the data lines so that it will be in "charge mode" when connected to a computer. I was a little worried about things fitting, but it all just barely did.

This is the result:

Yes, that's tape at the bottom! I still plan on making some changes to it. And I plan on spraying it black sometime but that will require a disassembly and I'm just happy it works for now. :)

If I try to use my usb/wall plug adapter I get nothing.. On my laptop and desktop though I get tons of vaper so I've been using those.

I agree, it does taste better using a mod you made yourself. :)

Gratz on the build man. You got a usb wall-wart, or are you gonna run it from your PC's usb port?

I swear, using a mod that was built by your own hands just seems to make the vape taste better.

Dude, your USB wall plug (wall wort) needs to output 1.5 - 2.0 amps to work. Most don't. You need the proper one. I don't use a direct passthru on computers, but that's me. I've posted about the resistor on the data lines, but I'm still cautious...

FYI: Madvapes, among others, sells a USB wall adapter at 2.0 amps, 5 volts.

Nice mod dude!

Well those 2000mA adapters won't actually deliver 2000mA to the atty. If you are a real Joye 510 user 4.1V may not be enough. And if you want to use a LR atty on your PT you'll need more current.

This adapter should do the trick, while running any standard atty at a true 5V, and a LR at about 3.4V.

I'm very content with running it off the usb card I put in my computer. I'm not running it off of any of the usb's that are integrated in to the motherboard. This has to be 5v or close too. I get HUGE puffs off this thing, the taste is stronger, and I burn through juice like. When I go back to my Ego or regular 510 batts now they just seem weak in comparison.
