Greetings!
So today i decided enough was enough. Went and bought a ego-t and a 510 manual just to see what i like better. Also got a LR attys. Really new to this stuff and though i haven't started vaping yet (still suck on analogs :( .. for now) I had some questions.
1.) Did anyone notice any weight gain after they switched from cigarettes to full vape? And maybe after they started lowering nic levels?
I'm 22 years old but i have smoked since i was 15 and have always wondered if i would gain weight if i stopped smoking.
2.) I ordered a broad array of nic content juices (18-36mg) I was about a pack a day smoker on Marlboro reds. What level should i start with, or is it a trial and error kind of thing?
3.) I live close to downtown Minneapolis and am more often than not down there going somewhere or doing something. I kind of am thinking i kicked myself in the .... for not buying something closer resembling a cigarette. I'm looking at all of the classifieds and asking myself how you guys smoke these things in public! Some of these things take me back to 9th grade when we used to create odd things from anything we could find in the house to smoke you know what out of.:p But in all seriousness, do you get strange looks/people asking what your smoking?

Also, any tips/tricks you have for quitting faster are greatly appreciated!

Believe it or not, I actually lost a couple of pounds when I started vaping and stoped smoking.
I started out at 24mg, but quickly dropped down to 18. I tried 12, but that doesn't do it for me (sucked the guts right out of my poor lil eGo). So I went back up to 18mg.
My experence was that I was better off with as few reminders of smoking as possible. Doesn't look like one, doesn't smell like one, and damn sure doesn't taste like one. (I like nut flavors the best)

What an active forum! Thanks for such fast replies! Skipped a step huh? Well that makes me a little more easy about my purchases.

Tj, As for the nic levels. You stated you started high and dropped to what would be classified as mid-range correct? Besides the obvious increases in usage, did you notice any changes in daily behavior? Crabbiness/not wanting to do things that you did before?

Also, another question arose as I was sitting here. I'm at the point where I'm willing to go the distance for my health realizing I'm not going to have a 18 year old resilient body forever and now I'm learning that now more than ever. (Doctor just said i could have chronic bronchitis) But as always money is an issue. Are you guys actually saving money? Or is it kicking an unhealthy expensive habit for a healthier expensive habit?

    Travis,

Good for you for having the desire to quit! I'd just like to say congrats and welcome. Hope you enjoy your PV's!!

    Now on to your questions.

    1) Oddly enough, I lost weight. I was pretty small to begin with and although I've heard it usually works in reverse, my appetite actually decreased when I dropped the analogs. Might be all the sweets and fruits I vape. ;) But everyone is different. I'm your age... And I started smoking -regularly- at age 12 (picked up my first analog at 11). Eek. So glad to be done with that whole mess.

    2) I really don't know the average nic content of cowboy killers (as we call Marb Reds here in the great state of Wyoming ;)), but I'll tell you this. I smoked American Spirit blues (full-flavored) with roughly a PAD habit which is saying a lot because those things go down hard and take ages to smoke! My friends would generally avoid bumming from me and if they did, they'd say, "Great. Now I can smoke this for the next 20 minutes." :D Am Spirits average at 1.9 mg nic each. There's a website somewhere, honestly can't remember where, that you can look up your analog of choice and find the average nic content. Maybe use that for comparison. (Just keep in mind I was smoking a couple thousand less potentially addictive chemicals) My starter kit came with 18mg cartos and I was climbing the walls by day 2. Needless to say, I quickly switched to 24mg for the initial haul. So yeah, it's another "different for everyone" thing but I will say, start with your lowest nic content. If that works, stay there and sell your higher level juice. If you get cravings, bump it up! I couldn't see someone wanting a cig after vaping at 36mg. @_@ Most importantly, don't beat yourself up if you just have to have a smoke. The desire to quit is there, and that is most important. :)

    3) I got KR8's initially, so no weird looks. My E-Power looks a bit like a tube of mascara so it's very socially acceptable. When I got the Roughstack, I did get a few interesting looks making me wish I had bought the mini (just for two seconds or so ;)). I've heard it described as a small pipe bomb. o_O In public, I usually just bring my little box mod from MadVapes because it is easily concealed and looks like a tiny walkie-talkie. I'm interested to see the looks my Saber Touch will bring when it gets here. ;)

Anyway. Easy fix for odd looks. I carry these little cards from V4L in my wallet that briefly describe the vaping process, how it works, and that it's not subject to normal state/federal smoking bans. Or, if I'm in the mood, I'll explain myself. A lot of people are more interested in these awesome little devices than you'd think. I live in a pretty small town and people have just gotten used to seeing me with a PV glued to my lips. ;) So maybe if you familiarize your own little corner of Minneapolis with you vaping, it'll become more and more "normal"... And expected. Plus, I'm sure a lot more people there are at least AWARE of vaping. Try visiting Wyoming sometimes. @_@

Anyway, congrats and good luck. Look forward to associating with you. Vape on!

P.S. - I got chronic bronchitis as well. Surprise surprise, cleared up in a matter of weeks. My doctor was shocked by the improvements my lungs had already undergone.

And if you just stick with what you've got and don't go mod/juice/latest accessory crazy (and I wish you luck on that!!), you WILL save money. You just have to get over the initial hump and then all you'll need are juices, occasional batteries, and cartos and/or carts and atty's.
