I started less than three weeks ago with a basic ego battery. Four days later I got a spinner, then a week later I got two iTaste VV V3 (LOVE IT) and today I got the VAMO V5 that should be here next week.

At what point did you find the perfect device for you? I'm wondering if I should just say screw it and get the ProVari I've been drooling over for two weeks. (Maybe I'll get it for myself for Christmas)

So, if you have the VAMO tell me what you like about it? What can I expect out of it?

Thanks!!
Cat

I love my Vamos. I have a V2 and a V5. I think they work every bit as well as the ProVari. The advantage to the ProVari is build quality though. I could see one of these Vamos being damaged by being dropped hard. One thing I like about the Vamo is that it DOESN'T light up when the fire button is pressed (actually, the V5 does, but it can be turned off). This can come in handy in stealth vaping situations (movie theaters, etc.).

I was just reading in another thread where people were only getting a month or two out of a VAMO. Are they really that flimsy? I mean I know they are less expensive but I am hoping it can last at least awhile!! I'm certainly not hard on any of my electronics and I have never dropped a vaporizer before. I was planning on the VAMO being my at home device and using my iTaste VV V3 when I am out and about.

I wanted the EVic. But read some bad stuff about that one as well.

If I DID get a ProVari it would be a mini. I plan on using the Vamo in short mode too with the center ring removed.

Hi Cat!

I have not yet found the perfect device for me, but I have been using my eVic for MONTHS without any problems. I had (briefly) a VTR too, but it was defective, and the replacement hasn't shown up yet. It seemed to be almost as good as my eVic (I was hoping for better really). I use VW mode too much for a Provari (since it doesn't have VW mode), so I am drooling over the Cyborg now (it's a DNA20 mod), but they have been sold out for a while ... :(

If I happen across the perfect device, I'll let you know!

BTW ... Love my iTaste VVs for out and about usage!

I really like my Vamo but as mentioned, they are fragile. I only used mine for 2-3 days and one of the buttons (the up button, unfortunately) lost it's "click" and now you can change wattage up by just looking at it practically. So long as I watch the screen before I vape on it, it's fine. I've had a few 14-15w hits when I wasn't expecting that (I'm usually between 8 and 10 at most) and those are not fun. With that said, for the money, it works great as a backup and I use it as my ohm checker as well. FWIW, you can turn the ProVari LED off while firing as well, but that's another story.

I have a vamo v3 and been using it for about 5 months and still working fine. You need to clean the wells and all regularly and I've dropped mine 5 or 6 times on a wood floor with no issues (probably been lucky). For the cost it's a nice little device and putting a new battery in when one dies is easy.

Only downside so far is you can't lock the wattage on my version 3 and the chrome finish is wearing off after some use (about 2 months in). Other than that been really happy with it and grabbed mine from fasttech for $32.18 with free shipping back when they shipped batteries with the unit and it got through ok.

Have had my V2 for 8 mos and it works great. The chrome has worn off where I grip it and the right side button doesn't click anymore when pressed. Who cares? It's function I care about. I've dropped 10-15 times and it's fine. This easy to use APV topped by a ViVi Nova V3 and the vape I get is just right. Been vaping about 18 mos so I've bought a fair amount of stuff. I plan on sticking with this combo.

I have both the Vamo V2 and the V5, both in stainless steel. As far as the mechanics and finish, I have had no issue with either and both have been working fine for months. The only problem I have found with the Vamo is the carto/atty threading, which are soft. Do not over-tighten the carto/clearo. Add some Noalox (Home Depot - electric isle) to the threads to help protect them. Or get an air flow controller so you are not screwing and unscrewing into the Vamo threads. Other than these suggestions, you should have a long life from your Vamo. Considering how inexpensive it is, if I get a year or two, that should be considered a good purchase. The cost of 5 - 6 Vamos equals one Provari. (no slight on the excellent build of the Provari). Here is one example of an air flow controller:
