After recommendations from many of you, and after speaking with Tony, not once, but twice on the phone (excellent customer service, and a genuinely nice guy!) I decided to purchase an Apex Alpha UltraMax with RES 6v complete kit. Especially at this price point, I hope this does the trick, as my last unit didn't work out so well for me. Tony assures me it will exceed my expectations and I am excited to get this in my hands. So excited that I had it shipped next day. Between now an then I will be without a PV and the craving for an analog is intense. I will do my best to review it after a few days of vaping.

Congrats on your new Alpha. Tony will get that out to you today and should be in your hands tomorrow. You have our full support and we will do everything we can to make sure the Alpha lives up to your expectation.

Looking forward to hearing what you think about the device.

Cheers,

Matt, it's always nice to have a backup PV, as stuff happens. Pick up a cheap ego or 510 kit and stash it somewhere, in case of emergency. Also nice to have some extra juice and cartos on-hand. I bought a couple of $15 kits, and keep one in my travel kit, and one in the truck. Anything, to avoid going back to analogues.

When I 1st started vaping, I ran out of juice & cartos. That 24 hour wait had me climbing the walls, and desperately stalking my mailman. I also did some e-cig online ordering, and spent hundreds on extra juice & PVs... so watch out for that, too... LOL

I'll take that under advisement. Today sucks without a PV, but I refuse to go to the corner market and buy analogs. I told my wife to hide the car keys just to be sure.

Come on mailman. I'm jonesin'!!!!

Got it today. All I gotta say is DAMN this thing is awesome! Vapor out the you know what!

1st impressions. Well, at 1st it didn't work. Set it up exactly like the manual said. None of the three atomizers fired. Called Innovapor and spoke with Mark. Again, super nice guy and outstanding customer service (I'm sensing a theme here with this company!). Turns out, a small brass contact had worked it's way loose in transit. Put it back in, and viola! Tons of vapor, massive TH, and the RES is great, fill it up and go. It's also amazingly light weight. I've been vaping it an hour now, and still have yet to have to refill it. Amazingly, I get consistant draws each and every time, and no leaks!!! The only downside I can see at this point, as it is a 6v system, I don't get as much flavor out of my juice as I did with my ICON 3.7v. Mark advised me to get the 3.7 batteries and LR Attys as a possible fix, and to use less juice (it's what he did and works for him), and I may try that. The sliding "button" takes a little getting used to as every once and a while it doesn't want to slide. A little polishing of the tube may rectify that though. I thought I'd really like the case, but now I'm not so sure. It's quite heavy, and the Attys and batteries have "wiggle room" so it rattles if it's in the pocket. I'll have to find another more suitable carry case option to use at work.

So to recap...

Pros:
-Lightweight
-Compact
-Tons of vapor production
-Great TH
-Ease of use
-Doesn't leak
-The RES is genius
-Hours of vaping without having to refill
-Customer service. My god, these people want happy customers. It's so refreshing.

Cons:
-Price
-The switch could use some polishing for a smoother more consistent action.
-The case, while a very attractive and well made work of art, isn't very functional for my needs
-Less "flavor" out of my juice than my ICON 3.7v system gives. Possibly fixable by going to 3.7v batteries and LR Attys.

I may amend this post at a later date after a few days of vaping.

Thanks again Innovapor!

Matt

Glad it made it overnight. Thanks for the review, I would have to agree with Mark, 3.7V Protected 17670 is a nice combo, tons of vapor and probably better flavor (except for menthol, I have a prejudice that menthol open up at >5V).

Even just a simply quick wipe with a dry cloth on the inner sleeve and inside of the main body tends to get the switch action buttery smooth. Give it a shot. If you do polish it, just run the polishing cloth (included) down the inside of the main body and then wipe if with a dry cloth or paper towel. It is hard to notice but the textured/ribbed part of the inner sleeve does not come into contact with the main body, it is recessed ever so slightly (we did this to reduce friction) as a benefit you can polish the main body and only the inside sleeve parts that make contact (top and bottom) will make contact with the polished surface. This keeps the sleeve nice and grippy, while greasing up the action of the Alpha.

The Alpha UltraMax case is a beast, better suited for a bag, or briefcase then a pocket.

Keep us informed of how your Alpha treats you.

Cheers,

Noah

Hey Fazed, just wanted to let you know what I think about your less flavor situation. There really is no reason that the alpha would have less flavor than your icon, I think the only reason you are getting less flavor is because of the higher voltage. Hv can be brutal to certain e-liquids and can really enhance others, once you get a 17670 battery, you will see that the flavor will be exactly the same because then the voltage will be exactly the same so there is no reason it will not be the same. As a test, once you get a 17670 battery, use the same atty and flavor on both devices.

My two cents (probably worth a penny):

I'm definitely a 6v fan, but I have the Ultra (not the Max) and I'm absolutely digging it with the 3.7v IMR 14500/LR 1.5Ω setup. It really seems like 5v with vapor, throat hit, flavor...

If I get the Ultra Max, it will be for the extra capacity (RES and battery) and not for the 6v capability.

Joye 510 HV5 - 5 Volt

On a side note... You guys are friggin awesome! Best customer service ever!

Nice, Joye is the only brand atty I deal with anymore, and that's what I'm bringing in. Glad hear they rock with the Ultramax!

Glad you appreciate the customer service, we take it very, very seriously. It is the single most important aspect of our business. Far more important then trying to make a quick buck.

Great customers and a awesome community of vapers make it all worth while.

Cheers,

SH

As a noob, what would be the advantage to HV Attys?

Sent via cellular communication device...

hv attys have a higher resistance than a standard atty so the coil will not get as hot and in theory will last longer. It can also help keeping some juices from burning.

Soon your ultra will have 6volt capabilities anyway, the battery life will leave something to be desired but it will aid in chasing of that nicotine demon when you are out and about and really need the extra umph even if its only for an hour or so.

edit; Forgot to mentio n that I have been pretty satisfied with the imr14500 with lr as well it really does the trick on this thing.
