I have been a analog smoker for 30 years. I tried my first E-Cig a few days ago, a cheap no name bought at a corner store. It tasted terrible and was kinda weak. But I could see the potential. Just needed to be a bit more potent and better tasting.
I have spent a few hours lurking in this forum and decided to go whole hog and ordered a Provari and two sample packs from HHV. i am currently spending about 160.00 monthly on analog smoke. So a couple of hundred for the Provari should be a quick ROI. It might be better to buy the best available and skip the trial and error.
My grandpa use to say of Cigarettes..."Fire on one end..Fool on the other. At least I can eliminate the fire.

Any tips on what additions; gear I should get with the Provari. I bought the starter kit. I think I will want a tank, but dont know what to get.

Well jump right in why don't ya. I don't have one of those but just about everything else lol. You'll get tons of advise on different setups. Try several of the popular ones and see what one floats your boat. I have a aga-t2 and love it, it's rebuildable. I'm also hooked on dripping while I'm at home. Just got a couple mini squids in the mail, so far love those too. I use the kanger pro tank and the kanger t3's with good results. Good luck and welcome to ecf!

Nice jump from a corner store junk to ProVari! :D

I would start with toppers that are designed to be used on big batteries and user-friendly. My favorite right now is the Kanger ProTank--it comes with changeable coils so it's very easy to use and clean. And it's made out of glass.

If you're very ambitious, you may try carto tanks that are also very popular around here, but they are fiddly.

I do not recommend RBAs (rebuildables) for beginners.

Good luck and happy vaping! And welcome aboard.

You're gonna need some ejuice to go with your ProVari. :D

Wow thats awesome I wish I would have done the same, if I would have got the provari right off I would have quit cigs all together quicker. Get a kanger t3 or protank and buy your provari from provape.com. Congrats and enjoy the journey you were lucky to find this forum so fast it took me months of crappy e cigs and yes you will save money right off with your choice look at my banner in only 9 months saved 2000 gran well at least a gran but I feel better.

welcome to the next chapter in your life. no more cigs and a new vaping addiction :)
you made a very good choice buying a provari. You will want extra batteries. AW and Efest are best.
You may want a 2nd cheap charger as well (They can be had for 5 bucks, 2 bay for $10)
Extra chargers and bats are great to have. But you can buy them far down the road. Your good for now.

As far as what to put on top... I like recommending kanger to new vapers these days.
Kanger T3 (you'll need a 510 to eGo adapter $3) orrr, the Kanger Pro Tanks
(which are great! and glass!)
You could try the T3s or the Protank, but you could also try a top coil clearomizer too.
Maybe vivi novas.
Top coil clearo tanks produce a warmer vape because the coil is closer to your mouth.
The top coil clearo tanks can be annoying though, because they occassionally have problems with wicking.
The bottom feeding clearos and tanks have the opposite problem (sometimes) they can Over-feed the coil.
Either way, they are relatively easy to use and with a common sense mature mind,
you'll understand how they work.
Theres also cartomizer tanks. The best of the best of these is phiniac or IBTanked.
These are great for noobs as well.
As a new vaper, you probably won't be rebuilding coils on your own.
You'd be buying the coils or the cartomizers yourself.
If you want to be able to rebuild in the future, the Kanger or Vivi Nova products are a good investment now.
You'll be able to rebuild them in the future. But honestly, if you buy 3-4 tank kits of either type, your good for a year.
(because they come with 2-3 extra coils... I bought mine in 2012 and I still haven't had to rebuild one yet)

Vets like rebuildables. I don't recommend rebuildables for beginners, but,
eh, you could pick a cheap one up to try out.
The Aga-T2 is a great example of a GOOD rebuildable atomizer from china. (good price, nice quality)
In the future, Provape has a great deal with ZEN, and ZEN makes the Z atty Pro (ZAP) for us provari owners. :)

I def recommend the Kanger T3, The Kanger ProTank, The Vivi Nova, and the Cartomizer Tank.
All grrrreat for ALL vapers.
enjoy your vaping journey.

I would second the Kanger ProTank. Buy some 36 Guage Kanthal wire and some silica wicking cheap on Ebay, they are an easy rebuild when the coil gets the black nasty buildup. They don't flood as much as the Kanger T3s, but they do dry hit occasionally due to the "vaccum" in the tank. Bubbles are good. ^o^

Welcome to ECF and congrats on your new Provari!

I would suggest getting both a Kanger Pro Tank and a Viva Nova. That way you will know if you prefer the cooler vape from the bottom coil Kanger or the warmer vape from the top coil Viva Nova. Also, order an atomizer or two for sampling juices. They are much easier and quicker to clean between flavors than cleaning a tank. The Vivi Nova and atomizers need drip tips so get a couple of those as well.

Congrats on the Provari. That's equivalent of going from a Jeep to a decked out Hummer. You won't regret your choice, I have two Provari's among several battery devices, and the Provari's get at least 90% of the use. Hands down my favorites.

I've written a blog article for new vapors on the "toppers" or juice delivery devices. It includes descriptions of the more common ones, photos of them in use, and demo videos on how to fill them with e-juice. These all hold and vaporize our nicotine e-liquid; all work a little differently, and we all tend to prefer one over another for various reasons. Here is the article:

Juice Delivery Devices: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...k-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

A Kanger Pro Tank or a Vivi Nova tank are easy to use for a beginner. Once you decide to try something else a little different I suggest a pyrex cartotank from IBTanked:

Avoid the temptation to purchase an RBA or rebuildable atty for the time being until you become an expert with one of the other juice delivery devices. Right now you want something simple to use and works right out of the box.

____

No one has mentioned much about your e-juice. Figure on consuming 3 - 6 ml a day.

We generally recommend a 1 ppd smoker to start with 24mg strength nicotine in their e-juice. Don't worry about dropping your nicotine level at this point. Just get off the smokes first.

Which flavors to use is entirely up to you. Just know that you'll never find a flavor that tastes like any cigarette. No one can make an e-liquid flavor that tastes like burning leaves and smoke. Try finding a good flavor you don't mind vaping all day from among the candy, fruit, desert, coffee, or menthol flavors available.

Buying multiple flavors in smaller bottles or in sample packs is a wise idea. You don't want to waste money spent on larger bottles of juice you don't care for. Once you find some winners, order more in a larger size.

Many first time vapors have some issue with coughing when vaping for the first time, this is normal. It took your body time to adjust to cigarette smoke, it will take time to adjust to vapor, too. It's not necessary to inhale vapor to absorb the nicotine. Just suck in a mouthful as if it was a thick milkshake, and either inhale or exhale it thru your nose and mouth. Nicotine in vapor is absorbed in the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth, so there's no need to inhale into your lungs unless you desire to.

Up your water intake. The Pg and Vg in e-liquid attract water and actually will pull water from your body. This must be replaced by additional intake of water.

Thanks for all the great advice. I ordered 8 6ml sample bottles of various flavors from HHV. Also I included a atomizer
in my initial purchase Provari. I will come refer to this thread and look at getting a tank after I settle on a flavor or two.
I also ordered a tank. I will prolly be using the atomizer will my samples.

My girl friends mother has been vaping for about three months and that piqued my curiosity to the point that I bought the cheap PV and then found this forum. I really like the fact that you can just take a hit when you feel the need and as opposed to smoking a whole cig.

I couldn't agree more Kanger Protank and Vivnova , personally i prefer the slightly cooler vape of the protank and the bonus is it's glass so no need to worry about acidic juices.

I have found finding great juice harder than getting good equipment , i am rather picky and it's not uncommon for me to get ten flavors in and only like one or two. so my advise would be to try as many as you can :)

You got your gear, good recommendations for tanks (I use kanger protanks) now time for juice shopping!

I use mt baker vapor for all my juices, super fast, great quality, and cheap! Try a buch of pg/vg mixes and coming from cigs get 24mg nic and 18mg nic to start of with. Pg gives more throat hit, vg produces visible vapor and smoothes everything out. 50/50 works well for me but everyone's different. My fav juices from MBV are caramel apple, pear, hawk sause, extreme ice, and ecto cooler. Get 1-2 extra flavor shots as well

Rba's and rda's are not rocket science. How many posts do they need before you can suggest one? The guy is obviously smarter than most of us, he already skipped the crap. I was wrapping coils 10 days into me vaping, I would have loved this advise. 40 dollars and I have enough wire and wick and for my whole vaping life, and yours. I'm not here to tell anyone they can't or it's too advanced for them, that's their call. I don't know any of you more than what I read here, so I'm not going to assume anything. My :2c:

I haven't started yet,but it seems stupid and wasteful to not buy a rebuildable and so easy a child could do it.

Practice rebuilding your Kanger and/or Vivi Nova. That will make rebuildable atomizers much easier to tackle.

The AGA-T2 is a very good, reasonably priced genny. I would suggest using ceramic wicks rather than stainless mesh. The ceramic wicks are expensive and quite fragile. However, in my view, the taste is vastly superior to that of stainless wicks and you don't have the tedious, annoying issue of working out shorts like you do with stainless mesh.

All that said, the best taste is dripping. If taste is one of your top priorities try the bridgeless Cisco spec atties at Avid Vapor. You can build your own dripping atty but I don't think it tastes nearly as good as the Cisco specs and more expensive HH.357s.
