I order the LP/SL reo grand black wrinkle and reomizer 2.0 rba. I also order some random bottles, springs, screws and o rings. Tomorrow I am going out to buy batteries and an digital ohm reader. My question is about cotton. Do I need to boil it of buy some special type? I have regular cotton balls already, I am hoping and can just use those. Also I noticed on the reo website they sell silica wick, would you use that instead of cotton? Thanks in advance. I am very excited for my first Reo and hopefully my last mod.

Congratz on your new REO!

The recommended batteries are the AW IMR 18650 1600 mAh. You can get them at many vendor sites. I shop here:
Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor They also have the ohm meter and fast shipping.

The cotton balls you have will work. Some use the organic cotton. I even use the cotton (Rayon) from my OTC meds. I do not boil first. Very simple to use and works wonderful.

Get ready for the REO way of vaping!

Congrats on buying a Reo! As Karen (nerak) said any cotton will work, many people have their favorites after they get going, but at first, any cotton is fine (as long as you don't hate the taste or are allergic to it). RTD is a good place to get batteries and highly recommended by Reo owners. Here's a link to Super_X's video channel, his videos are highly regarded by many:

If you are wondering which ones to watch first I would start with these:

ETA - Oh I see you are going out to buy batteries, as Karen said AW IMR 18650's are recommended and the Reo's were designed with these batteries in mind. Most Reo owners prefer the 1600mAh not the 2000mAh version of these batteries, but either will work. There are other battery brand options if you can't find AW's locally, but the bottom line is to get batteries that have IMR chemistry "safe chemistry" and don't buy "protected" batteries, you want "unprotected". There's some battery threads around here somewhere... The reason RTD is a recommended supplier is that they have a reputation for supplying genuine batteries and do high volume sales so the chance of getting fake AW's is very low.

Thanks so much guys. Another question for you. What ohm coil do you think I should start with? So far I have only ordered the 28 gauge wire. I don't really want a warm vape. I have been vaping on the Aspire Nautilus with the BVC. Not really looking to cloud chase either, just looking for great flavor. Thanks again, you guys are great.

Organic cotton balls work. The disadvantage is that it's a little harder to feed through a coil. Cotton from facial pads made by two or three Japanese cosmetics companies has all the fibers facing the same direction (it's combed before it's pressed in to a pad). Those are easier to deal with for wicking. SuperX has some great videos regarding that.

Silica... the advantage is it doesn't burn - ever. You can take a blow torch to it and it won't burn. It's the exact same stuff they use for fireplace and wood stove doors. The disadvantage is that it doesn't pick up as much juice as looser wicking material like cotton. And, you don't re-wick nearly as often so it can tend to gather caramelized juice or burnt juice so the flavor deteriorates the longer you use it.

ReadyXwick - the advantage is it also doesn't burn... and though in theory one might argue that it can collect caramelized juice because of rewicking less often like silica, it's hollow woven, so it can be removed from a coil and cleaned and then re-used. So, the caramelized juice and burnt juice collection is a moot point once you know how to use that stuff.

Personally, I use the KGD Japanese cotton and I like it. It's easy to work with and always provides excellent flavor.

Cotton balls work - harder to run through the coil and tends to have lumps and / or thin spots.
Pad cottons - all the fibers run the same direction - easier to work with but needs to be changed with new wick fairly regularly.
Silica works, but can get dirty... plus it is already pretty dense stuff like rope so it also doesn't wick all that efficiently.
Readywix won't burn and is woven hollow so it's strong and easy to work with. The hollow makes it collect juice very well. It's expensive by by all accounts: It is probably worth the price tag

I would start with something close in ohms to the BVC coil you've been using, or a bit below that. Doing so would give a comparable or bigger cloud size with better flavor I would think. If you want more, aim for lower ohms, say 10% or 20% lower or more. If you can find some 29 gauge wire or 30 gauge wire I find it works better in the 1.5 ohm and above range, better flavor and quicker heat up time. 1.5 ohm and below use 28 gauge. But, we all find our own favorite setup in the end so no one way is any more correct than another, which is another way of saying you will get a hundred or so different answers to this question :) It's hard to go wrong with the Super_X vid Reomizer 2 build to get you started.

Here's my favorite coil wrap for my Reo so far.

28 Gauge Kanthal A-1
Coil size 16 or 18 gauge needle (pink luer lok so whatever gauge that is)
Number of Wraps: 8
Ohms of coil: right around 1.0 Ohm

If you failed to tell Rob to please not apply his Porcupine dust to your first Reo, then you can expect to have a passionate uncontrolable urge to buy a second one within 2 to 5 minutes after unwrapping your first one. :)
