RDA Just picked up a troll rda

Any ideas using 24 Gauge Kanthal? I'm my mod fires to .3. Any build referencecoil wise build it big or low in the j channel? new to rdas , but I'm into electrical as I'm a maintenance manager

P.s. I started with a pen, then Atlantis with rebuilt horizontal coil, now troll. And love the flavor.

You can use Steam Engine | free vaping calculators plan your builds. I would start with something in the 0.8 to 0.5 ohm range which better suits 26 guage wire or above. I don't know what a j channel is.

Thanks! I used that like yesterday for my first build. 8 wraps 24 gauge kanthal around a 11/64 ended being. 6 ohms for one coil. I was shooting for dual coil running .5 but that didn't happen. Any ideas what went wrong?

I use a Troll as one of my daily drivers. I love it more then a few $100 drippers. I just usually do 5-7 wraps around either a 2.5.or 3mm rod with a single piece of 24g. You can use two if its to difficult at first to use one and as you gain more skill I suggest trying just one strand. IMHO its a much better vape.

If you plan a build on steamengine and you a different resistance it could be a number of things. The length of your legs could longer or shorter. The rod you are wrapping on could be a size other than you thought

Yea your right the legs on the coil are long and bent. I'm not sure how to use the length on the calculator. Kinda mind boggling as the legs are different lengths.

Ok on a 1/8 inch bit I have to wrap 15 times to get a 1.1 ohm coil. What's wrong here? I've built coils for my Atlantis with no prob. No more then 8 wraps on a 3/32 bit and ended up at 1 ohm.
edit. And that was with 26 gauge

I don't remember. That should be about .15 though. I have experience doing this though and am using a dual parallel mod. If you did it with 24g, it would be about .21ohm, which is great on a mech, just make sure you have good batteries.

To get a 1.1 ohm SINGLE coil with 24g on a 2.5mm screwdriver I imagine it would take about 15 wraps. I checked steam engine and it says 13. 24g is lower resistance then 26g and the bit sizes are different so that may account for the difference when you did up an Atlantis coil.
Why don't you just do this and vape it for a while: Dual coil-24g, 5 wraps and use that 1/8 rod you got as its right around 3.1 mm. I am not sure what you are using for wicking the dripper but I would suggest one of two things which are either JOC (Japanese Organic Cotton, things like Muji, Koh Gen Do, Shisedo, Labo etc) OR rayon. I think if you do this basic build you will land around .3 ohm.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. thanks for the heads up! I'm using a dual parallel mod. That will fire down to .3. I'll try the 1/8th inch bit and see what that does. I'm currently using cotton, But i do have a big box of rayon I've been wanting to use. I'll give it a shot.

Still messing around with the 24g. I twisted some up 9 wraps around an 1/8 inch screw driver ended up being .4 ohm. Way way better then regular macro coils.

It's weird this one coil produces(04060) more vape then dual macro coils
