So I decided to go for a mod and ditch the my unreliable VV batteries. I just picked up the Joytech E vic. I took the plastic wrapper off the battery and tried to turn it on and no luck, I can't get it to turn on. I don't know which way the battery goes in if the the negative or positive side touches the spring and if I need the plastic disc in to make it work. I can't find anything online to do the first setup.

The battery goes in with the positive side up towards the control head. Five quick fire button presses turn it on - have you tried that?
If it's the pink battery, small metal side goes first (top), larger metal side is on the bottom (touching the bottom cap/spring). Five clicks to access the menu options, choose Power On.
Yes, tried it both sides and clicking to see if the battery was locked. I got it working after removing the little white plastic disk. I hope I don't actually need it.
