Purchase batteries from reputable suppliers (see Mooch's blog for links).
Avoid purchasing batteries from the likes of Amazon, Temu, etc. - both have 3rd parties selling counterfeit batteries.
ETA: Temu? The Chinese online retailer are very well known, throughout the world, for selling fake, counterfeit, and knockoff products of all kinds. Their parent company, Whaleco, Inc., does next to nothing to protect consumers.
