Just took my first drags: KR808D-1

KR808D-1 with 24mg Coffee cartomizer. 25 years smoking (reds) and my first ecig... I coughed a lot. The 'throat hit' was way stronger than I expected, but little to no vapor. That's probably because I can't take more than a 2 second drag without choking. I managed to take 6 drags before I go my nicotine buzz and put it down. I was really expecting it to be 'weak' but I am amazed at the punch it packs. I am giving myself 3 months to drop the analogs and I think these ecigs are going to really help me along.

I'll post more about the progress in the coming days.

Thanks to everyone on the forum and a special thanks to Rob at Vapor Kings.

Congrats dawhoo!

I think a lot of first timers are surprised by the throat hit that vapor gives. Funny thing is most of us seem to keep chasing a better TH. Not sure why that is when even the lamest e-cig gives a better TH than an analog. I've been vaping for about six months, and whenever I try to smoke now (very rare anymore-about 1 a month tops), I am always surprised at how weak it is (and nasty tasting).

As for the 808, I find the hit to be very airy on an 808. Sooner or later you are probably going to want to check out some other models (with all the extra $ you will have), and you will see why the 510 is such a popular atty ;). Lots more vapor.(IMO)

Good luck, and I'll look forward to reading your updates in the coming days.

I love my KR8 unit. It took me a while to get the inhaling down so I would get good amounts of vapor. You almost need to pre chamber, as in slowly and gently inhale into your mouth, then inhale the rest of the way, or at least I found that seems to work better than trying to suck directly like I would on an analog. I usually get much less vapor if I do that.

When I inhale, I just barely draw in air, and you can feel the stream of vapor in your mouth if your not sucking hard, once it turns to a hotter feeling i give it another second or two and stop. I found my vapor production to be pretty great, my family couldnt much tell the difference from a normal smoke.

Also getting juices with VG mixed in seem to produce more vapor, so that could help too if you want allot of vapor.

Otherwise, once I got used to it, I love the thing. trying out all sorts of different flavors is allot of fun, and sometimes disgusting haha. Welcome!

OK, ordered some VG as the PG is just too much for me.

Flavor: I don't like the 'cigarette' flavors at all. After 25 years of smoking, I am finding that hard to believe. I thought the cigarete flavor would be my favorite, but I like it the least. The RY4 isn't bad, but the coffee is my favorite. I am loving my coffee prefilled cartomizers though and can't wait to get my JuicyLiquid java.

I have the KR808 also. Been doing this about a week so I am new also. Anyway, I started out with 18mg carts, which you might want to try, if you are finding the 24mgs to be too much. I actually found the 18mg's to be weaker than I wanted so now I am ordering the 24mg carts, which I agree, are STRONG!!!! If you add a little bit of PG or VG (which I haven't tried yet, only the PG) it cuts the strength a bit and provides more vapor IMO.

Hang in there!!!! You are going to love this!!!!

At first, the wife and I were really disapointed with the Kreight starter kit we got. Turns out the problem was the prefilled "tobacco" flavor cartos that came with it. Poor vapor and very little taste that was unpleasant.
I ordered some VG based juice from american eliquid store and cleaned out the original cartos, refilled with the new juice and WOW! Completely different experience. Definitely going to order some higher strength juice though. The stuff we ordered was only 12mg (didn't want to over do it) and I have yet to get a good nic buzz.
Welcome to the world of vaping and good luck!

I still havent found any cartz with prefilled juice thats very good. Like Belle stated, having a good quality juice to refill with makes a world of difference. I use a vg/pg mix and get way more vapor than smoke from a cig. The flavors on a kr8 are outstanding and will just get better as your taste buds come back. Good luck on your quest to quitting within three mths but I predict it wont even take that long! I think the majority find that within a month, cigs begin to taste really disgusting.

Congrats on your start  It's good to jump right into the hobby and start finding what works best for you, its a constant learning process.

I can second the recommendation of upgrading to a 510 at some point. The KR8 is a great starter, and plenty find it works very well for them, but if you find you desire more performance down the road (the 510 produces a very thick smoke-like vapor, and lots of it), the 510 is the way to go. It requires a little more tinkering, but is generally less expensive and really delivers the vapor. Best of luck :)

I don't recommend the 510. It's what I started with and had nothing but problems with atomizers. None of the ones i bought were any good. Little vapor, fog machine taste, no real taste. I just ordered the KR8 from Vapor4Life and love it. I couldn't be happier with it. Go figure.

You're experience with the 510 was not typical, so I think it's a bit misleading to recommend against it without experiencing it properly. It's a shame that your House of Vapor attys didn't work, but most of us 510ers are plenty happy with our products from well-recommended vendors. My first cignot atty is still running perfectly and it's been a month. A properly running 510 is by no means a downgrade. That being said, the kr8 is still a good product.

And back to the ol' 510/Kr8 argument. They're both great and for the price it's not BAD to have both! Silly to say ONLY one or the other is the best. I like both, I personally prefer the kr8, but it's for the taste and ease. I love my 510 when I want big beautiful plumes of vape, and not as much flavor kick. I love my kr8 for flavors (esp the more delicate ones that seem to get lost on the 510) and driving (no fiddling with juice bottles) the very best. But each is worthwile for the price of a carton of cigs you can get a basic kit of either one for cheap.

Now! Flavorwise I WASN'T shocked when I found I didn't want tobacco or menthol cig tastes. I liked cigs okay, but knew I'd like other flavors. (blueberry! Bananna! OMG!)

The 510/Kr8 argument is like politics and religion around here.

The only way to REALLY have an opinion is to have owned and used both.

I have, and prefer the Kr8....and you'll hear many opinions saying that the 510 is a better model.

They are both great models for what it is they do, and with the low cost adapters floating around, there's no reason by folks can't try both affordably.

Um, yeah, what Macarthurbug said. *grin*

510 or KR808... I found a solution that I think it going to work all the way around for me.

Just ordered the Silver Bullet with a 510 to 808D adapter and some 510 atomizers and carts, so in a way, it will be like having both :D

I like my KR 808D-1, but the battery life is too short for a full day. 1 cart, that I fill, lasts all day, but the manual battery doesn't. I have 6 total 4 manual and 2 autos. I haven' used the auto yet. I am hoping the SB will solve the battery life issue.

I know the SB us HUGE, but I don't think that's going to be a problem for me. I work too long of hours to be charging batteries all day, so I think the SB will help.

And just so everyone knows.. I haven't had an analog since I took my first drag of an ecig. Why this isn't an approved device for stopping smoking is beyond me. I couldn't be happier.
