I really like this! Came with my Provari and I have never used a dripping atomizer before. Decided to watch a video on how to use it, and then taste some of the sample juices I ordered. I really love it! The taste is so clean and true! The only annoying part is if you take one too many hits after the 5 drops are in, you get a yucky metallic taste - I guess that's the mesh in there burning with no juice on it?

Oops, OK and a question.

In the video I watched, the guy had a "drip guard." Which I do not have. And just now, I dripped 5 drops of banana juice into the atomizer and then saw it had leaked right out the bottom and was captured in the top "well" of the Provari. Did I do something wrong? Or can a dripping atomizer not be used on its own?

You should get a 510 to 510 sealed adapter (link below) and a cheap drip shield. The sealed adapter keeps juice off your battery connector and the drip shield catches any drips that come out the air holes at the bottom of the atty. You also need the adapter to give the atty a little more height so the drip shield can do it's job.

For the Provapes atomizer and Provari, do I need to order the regular or the XL?

The mesh isn't burning :), you're on your way to a dry hit. I drip using sound. You might find something useful in my blog: Drip, Drip, Drip…

    You want this adapter
    510-510 Adapter (Sealed)
    and one of these shields
    Aluminum Ribbed Drip Shields

Also dry hits, and flooding the atty are just part of the learning curve, and we have all been there.
I drip with both RDA's and regular atomizers. For me the only real difference is it costs $5 to $20 bucks to replace an atomizer, and $0.05 to $0.10 cents to replace the wick and coil in a RDA.

I have taken taken a provari apart including the connector, I can say that it is one extremely tightly sealed connection. There is no reason to use a silly adapter for anything other than the height. I know some people like to use them as a double protection system against juice getting through, which is what I thought you were getting at at first. Don't ever feel like you have to if you can get away without it.

Ocelot - I read your great blog on dripping before I tried it and I think I was just afraid of getting a dry hit or flooding it... I was probably over-thinking the whole thing. :)

Neither of which is a big deal :) My biggest problem is that I forget i'm dripping and get a mini dry hit, but I have the attention span of a guppy.

New dripper here as well - and I forget too. I twirl the atty like a clearo, I draw on that thing one too many times and get a dry hit. Then I put too many drops and flood it - but it's absolutely the best flavor I have had. I've used a 510 atty and now an IGO-L - really, really pleased with the results.

I keep saying that every new starter kit should come with a regular 510 atty and I find myself talking about it a lot on the ECF now. It's like a step of vaping that everyone should experience. It's inexpensive, easy, fun, tasty and gives you an appreciation of how vaporization works that you can take with you when you are (inevitably) having issues with clearos / cartos.

That just means the Phidias is one step further away, but I just couldn't help it.

Now I need to take stock and enjoy what I have. (oh I need an HH357 too, been meaning to get one of those - eeek)

Lets see... one HH357 for $22 or ten Joyetech LR306s for $43. I'm staying in the low rent district.

OK I think I am doing alright without the drip guard now - if I stick to 3 drops instead of 5 as someone advised me. I really like dripping. Obviously it's only good if you are sitting at home just hanging out, but it's good fun and perfect for trying out new tastes. Now if only I could find one I like :( So far out of 7 new flavors, nothing has been a standout for me. :(
