Okay, so I finally got my drip set up that I ordered from Empire mods. I was super excited to get it all set up. Read some threads here on ECF about dripping and watched some youtube videos.

I purchased the disposable 510 attomizers with a drip shield. The atomizer is reading 1.5 ohms on my Provari Mini. I had it set at 3.8 volts.

I was expecting to have this "OMG this is amazing!" moment. But that never happened. I felt like I got some burnt taste even when I had def added enough drips of liquid....think 5-6 drops. Some hits tasted okay and not burnt. But it was never amazing. I didn't experience any overpowering full flavor. I feel like I might even like the way liquids taste better in my protanks or carto-tanks. But from everything I've read protanks supposedly mute flavors.

Does anyone else feel this way? Am I doing something wrong?

I really wanted to like dripping to sample new flavors that I have ordered before committing them to a tank. And to also experience the "full potential" of the flavor.

Firstly, you're vaping at too high a voltage for 1.5 ohms. The general rule of thumb is ohms plus 2 - and that will sometimes burn. So turn the Provari down! There's a learning curve with those 510 attys imo - are they the Joyetech ones? I didn't have a lot of luck with them, but ymmv. The secret is keeping them wet without flooding them, and it takes time to learn when the flavor is dropping off and you need to add a couple more drips of eliquid. Keep trying and you'll get better at it - but turn that voltage down! Try at 2.5 and go up if you need to 3.5 - probably won't need/want to go much higher than that though!

Give this chart a go, just for reference, your tastebuds will decide, but this give you an idea where to start
Most people run 6-8 watts

If you're using those $6 disposable atomizers then that's not what you're hearing about dripping. You need an RDA like an IGO or something similar that you have to build the coil and wick yourself to get a truly good dripping experience. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad for tasting flavors and such, but it's not the same.

Yeah I plan on getting one of those, but figured I would start with a cheap disposable one to get the hang of it first. Plus I have not rebuilt any coils yet. I did just order from 32 gauge kanthal wire and 3mm wick yesterday to try rebuilding the protank heads. Watched a youtube video and it seemed pretty simple.

Amanda has it right, that is a bit high on voltage. On my Provari around 3.2v works well for 1.5 ohm. The least you can go on the Provari is 2.9, so start there and work up until it gets a slightly burnt taste then back it down a couple tenths. Empire's site says not to use these above 3.7v, and that is probably too high. Also, make sure you drip enough drops to get a slight gurgle when you first hit it, that will go away after the first toot or two but you will know you have enough juice. Then the next time you drip just a drop or 2 less. But having the atty too dry will kill the coils pretty quickly.

So it would seem that I def used too high of voltage. Does this mean I ruined the atty?

Depends how long you used it at a higher voltage, but considering you probably had a very nasty taste I doubt you vaped it enough to harm it. Take a look down the barrel and if the coil doesn't look deformed or damaged it's probably fine. They really aren't that fragile and will take a bit of abuse. Just dial the voltage down, give it couple of drips, and give it a vape. It's your new toy... enjoy it. I do recommend that you drip enough drops to get a slight gurgle when you give it a toot without hitting the fire button. Not a lot of gurgle, but just a little until you get used to how much that atty likes. It would be very difficult to damage a wet coil even if the voltage is a bit high. Then as you get used to it you will figure out how much to drip.

Also, when you get that little bit of gurgle it's normal to get a couple of little spits of juice as the coil heats up. It sounds like a pop and may surprise you but don't let that worry you, it will stop after a couple of toots when the gurgling stops.

Let us know how it goes for you.
