I got both of these at fasttech. The wait was particularly long, about 3 weeks. Both were in the 23-24$ range so, hey I'm not complaining.

I figured I'd write a review of these two since they are similar, both available for very little money so people could pick one or the other or both. I'll discuss each one individually and then compare at the end:

The K100- I got the copper colored one. It has a very nice look to it. Clearly an empire clone. I bought this thing primarily because I wanted a very small mod that was pocketable and stealthy. This fits the bill ok for that with an 18350 installed. It's almost too small though, especially if you arent planning to use the drip shield part of it. The k100 has a bottom fire button that requires some significant force to press. After a bit of time you get used to it but you can't make any adjustments to the spring or anything. I've been using a Kanger Pro tank on it and this kind of makes up for the "too small" factor. That tank looks good on the k100. Today I'm using a standard Boge 510 carto with the drip shield and while this is visually stealthy, the carto makes noise but hey, it's a carto. The metal feels solid enough and there's a good weight to it.

There are some cons to this unit. The first and biggest to me is that the supplied drip tip fits too loosely into the drip shield part. To the point where you have to be careful not to unseat it. The other is that when you first get it you will notice some squeaking in the threads as you fiddle with it, install the batteries, and telescope it. I recommend immediately applying some noalox to all threads except the 510 connection. Finally, and this is just an aesthetic preference, I think it looks a bit ridiculous in 18650 mode, just too damn tall.

The KTS- This thing just looks about 10 times better than the K100. I got the silver/gold combination. It looks like a work of art. I assume at some point some of the plating might fade or whatever, but it was 23$. When I got it out of the box it took a good 10 minutes to figure out set up. It wasn't exactly hard or anything but you do have to take out a piece to get the 18350 in there. This is by design. I put an rda on it, a 306 atty, a clearomizer and all of these fired perfectly for me. I like the button better on this one. It's side mounted at the bottom. You can just palm it in your hand and fire it by closing your fist a bit tighter. Here' a great thing about the KTS. It being all shiny you'd think it would be a finger print magnet. It's not. I handled it extensively theres not a single smudge.

There are cons here too. The biggest issue I had with the KTS was that in the 18350 mode the top cap would not thread down all the way. There are still maybe two threads visible. You probably can't tell unless you are looking for it, but still, what's up with that? Maybe I just need a diferent 18350? These are Efest IMRs from My Vapor Store. Maybe there's a small 18350? This one also looks a bit nutty in 18650 mode. The center tube is gold. I think I just prefer smaller form factor. Finally, there was thread squeaking, go ahead and noalox these asap.

Comparison- Both of these are pretty good and solid units in my opinion. In terms of performance that is largely going to be dependent on your delivery system, your juice, your coil and so on. They are battery tubes, so the only real analysis to me is on build quality, style and aesthetic. The KTS looks better to me, I just wish the top cap would thread all the way down. The K100's bottom button is a negative to me, but not so much so that I won't use it. Both are made of pretty solid body metal. The springs each appear to work ok, but I've got a Legacy and the springs on that thing are of way better quality. For 20-25$ each, I don't think you can go wrong with these. If you are say an Ego user and want something that looks nicer for an evening out or what have you, either of these would be a great choice. If you are in need of a backup or just want a really small 18350, either of these are good for that as well.

Nice rundown on your mods. Thanks for sharing!

You should be able to hide all the threads on the KTS even in 350 mode. Unscrew the smaller diameter tube a bit then tighten the top cap down on it then tighten the mod back down on the battery. ;)

The KTS definitely hits well in my experience. I'm not a fan of it though because it's so thin.. feels very petite, nearly fragile, in my opinion.

Haven't used a K100 yet. I've nearly ordered one many times, kind of surprised I haven't done it yet.. I usually don't have this much self control when it comes to affordable hardware, lol.

Thanks for that advice on the KTS. I had actually thought about that during lunch. Will try it when I get home.

As for the K100, its a lot thicker in terms of metal than the KTS. I still think the KTS is rather durable though. Time will tell, it was 23$ so I don't care so much.

I love my KTS Storm, very nice looking mech. If you tighten down the top cap first and then tighten the tube you can hide all the threads in 18350 mode. I've sanded down the contact points to the brass and the voltage loss is less. Going to get the K101 next, which is about the same as the K100 but I like the looks better. I've read the K100/101 have a lot less voltage loss out of the box compared to the KTS.

That's just a crazy low price. It felt like stealing when I paid only $21 from Exhale.

There's also a newer version with a flat top. No taper at the top cap and doesn't have the raised, knurled ring. I actually really dig the look of the one I got, but I think many others prefer the flat top look. The cap's available in gold or silver for around $11.

The whole thing.

Positive contact, just use a small piece of fine sandpaper(I used 600 grit) on the end of your finger to remove the plating.

Battery spring,I had 3 kts,all had corrosion on the spring, clean it up with sandpaper or wire, then apply Noalox.

I put an old carto in the chuck of a drill(no lathe:()and screwed the top cap on to that.

I used a piece of steel wool and spun the drill applying only a small amount of pressure while moving the wool up and down the cap.

Then I screwed the next piece on and did the same thing, adding pieces as I got down to the brass. The switch comes out easy but be aware it's counter threaded(threads the opposite way)

Then with it extended as much as possible I continued spinning until I got to where I was happy with the finish.

I was not after a very polished finish so just used a reasonably fine grade of steel wool and am left with a brushed finish which I like but you could get finer grades and get it to a nice polish.

Hope that's of some help:)

my kts wont make contact with my protank. i have tried pulling the pin on the protank out, to no avail. all my other devices work, but the protank with either a protank head or a evod head just wont make the connection. any suggestions!?

Try tightening the head from inside the base. The replaceable one that screws down becomes your connector pin.

thanks!
to clarify, the pin in the head of the kts can be adjusted form inside the top piece (head)
i hadn't even looked at that! all other devices hit, just not the protank which is the best looking device on it that i own!
