I was fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time to post and review Goodejuice's Kamikaze e-liquid. First off, I want to commend Nick of Goodejuice.com for his speedy correspondence via PMs. Nick was ridiculously fast in informing me that I was chosen as one of the reviewers and relayed what information he needed from me for the review process to ensue. I was given choices of nic strength and exactly what ratio of PG to VG suited me best. After filling in those blanks, i received another email from Nick who told me the e-liquid would be in the morning's mail. USPS online info tells me he was true to his word, less 16 minutes, as a package from Goodejuice was received by USPS at 12:16 PM the following day. =)
In a follow-up email I asked Nick if Kamikaze was steeped from tobacco or was tobacco flavored. I was told it was flavored and that there is a tobacco maceration product from Goodejuice on the horizon. This comes as good news to me as my favorite tobacco e-liquids are derived from real tobacco through a leaf steeping process or via snus. I feel it is important and fair to point that out before I start my review. In addition, Nick forewarned me that this was a "sweet tobacco" flavor. 2+ years into the vaping scene, I don't do much sweet vaping at all. Again, this is important information to glean regarding your reviewer. =)
My testing equipment for Kamikaze was this...
A dual 18650 VV mod dialed down to 3.8 volts with a regular Joye (2.2 ohm) atomizer. I felt this would be fair equipment to judge against by the masses. The power used (wattage) being similar to that of an LR on an eGo (3.2 volts) or a fully charged battery with a regular atomizer on a standard PV. I *think* I struck a comparable enough balance in order for the review to have merit to many.
E-Liquid...
I chose 70/30 PG/VG and 18 mg of nicotine. I don't know if that is middle of the road or not but it's what I like. So there! LOL
Onto the review --
Opening the bottle I caught a nice whiff of maple. With a clean atty, I dripped 3 drops directly onto the atomizer and took a hit. Okay, THAT is definitely maple and definitely sweet! LOL My first thought and one that continued throughout the 6 ml bottle's life was/is -- this is very much like every vendor's Waffle flavor BUT with an actual TH. Clearly, this is a flavor that is just too sweet for me but it did reveal a few things about Goodejuice that I liked. The actual vapor is what one would expect from 70/30 but it is a very *clean* liquid. What I mean by that is, there are some vendors that use a *base* liquid, be it their nic or PG/VG, that has an undertone, a disagreeable undertone that repeats itself in ALL their liquids regardless of flavor. I KNOW some of you know exactly what I'm talking about here. Goodejuice, at least the Kamikaze that I tried, does NOT have that nasty base undertone. It vapes as clean as could be. So clean in fact, that I actually enjoyed Kamikaze even though I don't like the flavor/sweetness of it! I will definitely be making a purchase in the near future at Goodejuice.com because of that clean appeal of the liquid.
Overall, Kamikaze is over-powered by maple sweetness, in my estimation. The tobacco flavoring is hidden behind it but I can taste a combination of tobacco flavorings in there. These are tobacco flavorings that we are all familiar with solely. The Kamikaze twist is that there is a medley of these tobacco flavorings in one place under the sweet maple. Again, it's important to keep in mind that I am a bit of an e-liquid tobacco enthusiast and that I am not a fan of sweet liquids. YMMV and probably will. =)
