Kanger 1.2 ohm enclosed wick wattage and voltage?

Hi, I was thinking about buying the Kanger 1.2 ohm enclosed wick but am not sure exactly what wattage or voltage to use. I currently use the Protank 3 on my istick 50w. I am currently using the 1.5 ohm wicks and run my device at 9.2 watts and 3.8 volts. So I was wondering if this is right and if I should up the wattage for the 1.2 ohm coils and leave the voltage the same?

9.2 watts is 9.2 watts, regardless of the Ω of the coil. On a mech mod, the coil dictates the voltage/watts - on VW, watts is watts. 13 watts on one coil will be 13 watts on another.

Thinner gauge Kanthal will heat up faster. More wraps on the higher Ω's would give more vaping surface area - so the experience could be different in those respects, but watts is watts.

I'd actually start it a little bit lower than normal and work your way up. Here's a handy chart for all us non sub ohm guys.

Granted the numbers are more or less accurate, but that chart is assuming way too much, and way too conservatively, with its color coding. Seems it's applicable only to very specific, low level equipment. Going strictly by its recommendations, I should be melting coils on all my builds. Maybe true on a stock Kanger 1.5 Protank coil, but a 1.2 coil, correctly wicked on something like a Kayfun, Subtank, Lemo, etc. will perform far in excess of what that chart implies.

Don't worry about magic numbers. Start low and increase gradually to find your happy place.

Watts are Not the greatest way to compare the hit you will get on Two Different atomizers. So much depends on the amount of Wicking and the amount of Air Flow.

Also, Wire Gauge plays a Huge Role in how "Hot" or how "Cold" a hit is at a Given Wattage.

So you may like the Hit you get on your 1.5 Ohm Protank @ 9.2 Watts, but on a Kanger Subtank with a 1.2 Ohm OCC, 12.0 Watts may be the Magic Number.

As others have said, the First Rule of VV/VW vapings is...

Start Low and Slowly Move Up.

This is True. 13 Watts is 13 Watts.

But the Difference of how the Hit Taste @ 13W on one atomizer Verses how the Hit Taste @ 13W on a Different Atomizer can be like Night and Day.

Yeah, I find a difference and I haven't built my first coil yet. When I started back vaping this past November the first tanks I got were these: 3.5mL NBC Tanks

For cheap tanks they work marvelously, btw, but at the time I only had a 5 year old mech mod that runs at 6V only, so I had to get the 3 Ω coils for it. Now that I have a couple VW devices, I ordered some of the 1.8 Ω coils. At the exact same wattage, the 3 Ω coils vape better, in my opinion.

I'm guessing it's what you mentioned...a little more surface area.

im confused by your post, u cant change both wattage and volts, changing one changes the other. your device should be setup to either control voltage or wattage, it wont do both at the same time.
What I have found is that when I lower my ohms I can raise the wattage and it will keep the voltage the same. Using a 1.8 ohm coil I was vaping at 8 watts and 3.8 volts. When I switched to the 1.5 ohm I could up the wattage to 9.3 and the voltage would stay the same. In fact I think I can go up to 9.5 watts without changing the voltage.

This brings up another question. Do I need to switch to a subtank or something like it in order to use the 1.2 ohm coils?

If the Manufacture of your tank offers a 1.2 Ohm Head, then you don't need to buy a New tank.

But to use the Kanger OCC Heads, either in .5 or 1.2 Ohm, you have to use them in a Kanger Subtank.
