I bought an airflow controller which came out 1-2 months or so after the Protank 1. (Spring, last year?)

EPIC FAIL. Whatever that was, it didn't work. Beware.

Yeah, i had one of those, same here. Why does the pin stick out of the bottom too far when you set it for a tight draw ?. The airflow controllers are really crap.

I just hope aerotank bases aren't made in the same way.

I've always used one on my Vamo....tank air controller. No problems. Now have the Aspire Nautilus and it sure does beat the air tank controller.

The day i got my vamo i got an airflow controller. Put the afc on the vamo and got an error. The grommit popped out of the vamo causing a short because the pin on the afc is too long. Never used the afc again. Took ages to fix the vamo.

Finally! I thought these were some sort of proprietary stuff that only Sun Vapers can carry and got a bit nervous. Glad to see others are starting to carry them.

Had to take a good look to make sure these things weren't anything like the original afc. No one has really mentioned how they work so i needed to know. They just have a ring that can be adjusted to control the air from holes in the side. So there's no movement of the centre pin, which would be a ridiculous idea !.

What were those guys thinking when they developed the original ?.

VapeEscape definitely sells them - I got a couple of spare ones when I ordered my Aerotank, just in case :p I'm not sure about shipping to the US though.

EDIT: SunVapers and My Vapor Store both have the base, along with positive reviews.

Yeah I heard those were terrible too! o_O The Aerotank ones work very well, though. I've been using mine around a week now and it is very functional. An added benefit is that the base is completely blocked off, so there's no leakage onto the battery (doesn't seem to be too much of a problem with the AT anyway) - this is only a problem in the unfortunate event that you do get some leakage, as you have to blow it out through the holes once it gathers at the bottom, under the head. This occasionally makes it difficult to unblock the little air holes of eliquid gunk, but that's nothing a quick wash and dry under the tap doesn't solve!

One small gripe is that the little wheel used to control the amount of air to get through the holes is quite loose, and moves around easily if you're carrying it in a pocket or something similar. The wheel also becomes a little bit slanted, meaning one of the three air holes is covered more than the other two. However, it seems if you level the wheel out while adjusting by pulling slightly down/pushing slightly up on the threading, it levels it out more.

Off-topic in the second half but never mind!

Have to say !, this new airflow controller isn't perfect. It isn't !. When the coil is screwed in, the centre pin is pushed out, only a tiny bit, and not as much as the original afc, but still enough for my vamo to give me a "low load" error, i've got a sensitive vamo,. Even when i use my protank on a spinner i still have to leave it a little loose and tighten the thread to give the tank a tight fit to the battery, but that's ok. I just don't want to be pushing in the terminals on my mods and ego batteries.

So, the idea would be to remodel this same device but make the centre pin a little shorter so before it is fitted with a coil the pin should sit just below the end of the thread, if you know what i mean. So when a coil is fitted, however much the coil pushes it, it can only end up flush with the end of the thread without it protruding from the base.

Been using mine for a week now and it has solved all the problems with the PT II. Much bester AFC device than the original. I do have success with the original when I use it on my HyperTank but I carry my eVic in a leather pouch on a lanyard and the pouch prevents the AFC from turning on its own so I set it and forget it.
