Soaking them as in cleaning them? Could it just be burnt on juice dissolving and making the coil look "rusty"? What kind of juice were you vaping?

My guess would be that the dual coils build up more gunk then single coils. Personally I don't know what Kanger was thinking making a dual coil Evod 2, I would think that the little 650 mah 3.7 regulated batteries are very under powered to push dual coils. If you don't already have a larger mod, even a variable voltage ego, you may want to check them out. It will really awaken the Evod 2.

Dry them off, screw onto a base with the top part of the coil (chimney) off, attach to a batttery and dry fire the coil until it glows for a few seconds. Blow off the coils after each dry fire, see how they look after that.

After I rinse my coils I usually let them sit in really hot water briefly, so that's when its happening. It's definitely not e liquid residue, the liquid I vape, although higher in vg is very light in color. This is burnt orange, exactly like the color of metal rusting. It's strange.

From what I understand, the Evod 2s aren't meant for the original Evod batteries. I guess they could be used with the newer vv Evod batteries. I currently use Itaste 3.0 vv/vw batteries.

I think you're right about giving dry burning a try. I haven't yet attempted dry burning any of the dual coils but I'm going to soon, hopefully that helps. I'm going to have to try to rinse them well again and let them dry before dry burning them because at least one of them has the rust stuff around the wick. Yuck.

I still don't think it's rust. I'd have to guess it's residue from the sugars in a sweet juice. I vape fruity juices and most of them are very light colored yet they still will eventually leave a brownish residue inside the coil. I don't think kanathal can rust.

I've read that with the kanger dual coils one coil usually heats up more causing the other to gunk up more. I'm at a little of a disadvantage because I only used the stock dual coils with my Aerotank for a week before rebuilding them with single microcoils. The vape is so much better that I'll never go back to the stock dual coils.

If you try dry burning the coil and most of that "rust" goes away, I'd say you are ok to reuse it or pitch it/rebuild it if it tastes funny.
