Hello all,
I joined recently, and stopped dipping skoal on December 10.
That is the day i bought the kanger.
Sometime late october, early nov, I went to a different local shop and bought a cheap kit.
It was bad.

I am very frustrated at this point.

I cannot get more than 2 or 3 days out of a coil.

It tastes burnt.

The shop where i bought the kanger has been working with me though.
Every time i go there, I get a different answer from a different person.

It's the coil.
It's the juice.
You need another tank, to alternate flavors
It's you, pulling to hard.
It's you, not taking long enough pulls.
It's you, setting your unit to low.
It's you, setting your unit to high.
You need the coil with the big hole, not the 2 little holes on each side.
You need to poke a hole in the coil with the kanthal wire.
You should switch to fruit flavors

Last night, it was- It's the nic. too high. So went from 18 to 14, new coil, and got the burnt taste today.
very frustrated.

Here is what I got:
Kanger emow mega.
Kanger aerotank v2 ( 2nd tank for different flavor)

The store blend Vanilla. 14 mg nic, have not tried this yet.
Threw away a 30 ml of this at 18.

The store blend of a tobacco/pipe. When it's good, it's good.

Mail ordered: The Mad alchemist "winters Bite" 6 mg
Got coco Mocha Pack juice as a sample. 6 mg

Admittedly, I don't "know how to smoke. I dipped, and puffed cigars.

Am I looking for a long, light pull? One guy said 3 - 5 seconds.

Seriously ready to give up and go back to the skoal, but I really do feel better.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Pretty much all of those suggestions they gave you are true, Just need to find out which ones apply and adjust accordingly. Set your mod at lowest setting take a hit or 2, move up a notch take a hit or 2 etc etc until you hit your sweetspot. If your pullig too hard for a hit it can cause the liquid to pass threw the atomizer too fast and coil can't keep up burning it can flood or burn you wicks out fast. Take nice slow long hits. This is one that I had to get used to. I smoked Marlboro Reds 2-3 packs a day, and chewed 2-3 bags of Red Man a week. I was taking a hit off my Silver bullet like it was a cigarette. My tank started leaking and was guinking up my coils.

Just a couple suggetions on what I have experienced with.

I will go all the way down to 3.2, and work back up
Thank you.

All the above. But I also know that I never used that particular tank. And the tanks I do use I hit like a cig. Aspire CE5-S and Lemo Drop. :2c:

You may be vaping faster than the head can keep up with.

Try taking a couple of "dry pulls" (vape without pressing the fire button) and see if that helps.

It can also help if you start your draw, a second or so later, hit the fire button, and keep drawing in after you let go of the fire button.
Thank you!
The dry pulls seem to make a difference. Having a little trouble coordinating the pull-hit button-pull..

You might that part of the issue could be the coils. Do you buy them from the same place? Are they genuine kanger coils? Quality control can be a little hit and miss with them. Might be worth looking into rebuilding the coils yourself. It is very easy to do and lots of help and tutorials on here.

I use the emow mega tanks and rebuild the coils vertical and wick with japanese cotton and it is a great vape in my opinion, no issues and saves the pennies as well

I only used kanger tanks until I moved to the rebuilds. That out of no where dry hit happened with all tanks and coils. The Emow was the worst. The Areotank mini was the best.
For some reason you're not getting enough liquid into the coil.
Try to fill the tank only 1/2 or 3/4 full.
The coils with the 4 holes (2 each side) are better then the 2 slots.
Every once in a while I would cover the air hole(s) and while pulling a vacuum then let go. You should see some bubbles come up from the bottom. That is an indication the liquid is getting into the coils.
With the mini I hardly every had to do that. Bubbles where constantly rising on their own.
It's the quirky Kanger coils/tanks, not you, but once you figure out how to work around the issues it becomes second nature.
Slow long drags should work best for these tanks.

Interesting, I have found the opposite. The ones with the 4 holes haven't lasted as long for me, in an aerotank v2. And the wick pulls through the top holes as you draw.... as seen in the pic, the one on the left. The slotted ones are the latest coils from kanger and work better for me.

original poster: make sure you are using 1.8 ohms, not 1.5 and try turning down your voltage. no way that you should be getting a burnt taste, that should be a fine cool vape combo for a starter. (and use a juice with lower nic! ) :toast:

edit: are you priming the coils before using? make sure they are saturated before hitting the fire button.

No problem. If you are interested in rebuilding them vertical here is a thread I wrote on how to do it.
