I was just wondering if anyone else's evod tip cracked and what juices you were using? I jus received some evods and the first juice I tried was some Mt. Dew from MBV took a few puffs set it down, came back and it literally cracked in my mouth! I know about citrusy/acidic juices cracking tanks, but this was a fresh tank and shouldn't have done that?

Mountain Dew is one of the flavorings known to crack or melt tanks or clearomizers. There are many more flavors than just cinnamon and citrus flavors to do this. A relatively up-to-date list of flavors can be found in this blog article that I wrote on this subject.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html

"Acidity" has nothing to do with the reaction on the plastic. It is a chemical reaction of certain flavors with a particular kind of plastic -- polycarbonate.

I had a brand new clearomizer that I filled with a brand new juice -- strawberry lemonade -- which caused the clearo to melt literally within five minutes.

I'm sorry for your loss. I have a blog about it too - with scary pictures:

EEEKKK! What happened to my tank?
Thank you Ocelot , I gave her a proper burial....at the bottom of my garbage can. Then realized I could use the evod head on my Pro-tank. and now my hands smell like this mornings Banana :-/

I ruined quite a bit of gear before I learned about tank cracking liquids. I kind of wish I hadn't thrown them away, I could have made a little vapemetery.

I vape Mt. Do almost everyday. IT has not done a thing to my Kanger T3's which are plastic tanks. Now redhots on the other hand have fogged one of my T3's but it is still in one piece and continues to work for other juices.

A bad EVOD I'd say. (and bad luck. sorry)

Edit: I should say that I vaped Mt. Do in my T3's a lot until I got my ProTanks. MT Do goes into the Pro's now for longer vaping goodness. :D

I had some root beer that literally spider cracked an entire tank within a few minutes. I thought the evods were relatively friendly with harsh juices, but i guess not. Thanks for the heads up, i wont be ordering any stiff juices.

I do have some Fuzion Endless Summer in an evod and that has lemon, no issue with that one at least

Where do you get your Mt Dew from? My husband is looking for a good one to adv. We haven't cracked any evods yet.

I busted an EVOD as well and was not vaping any thing caustic. I figured out what I did. Do not over tighten. The metal tube in the middle will put stress on the plastic.

This effect has been described other places on the interwebby as well. I have an EVOD that I have been using for about three months with non-cracker juices. At work, I noticed that there are deep cracks visible on the lower end of the clear mouthpiece. The cracks are not connected yet, but it's gonna be a problem when they go all the way.

I always fully tighten my EVOD bases, so I guess it is an inner air tube length QC issue with some examples of EVODs.

It's a shame, since it is a blue EVOD and I put Blue Moo in it :( (The replacement with be a FT EVOD in SS).

.

We never over-tighten anything. We now have TWELVE eVods that we've had for a month or two, and all but one of them has developed hairline cracks at the base of the mouthpiece. I can feel some of them with my fingernail; others are only discernible visually. One broke today. I have had some tank-cracking juices in a few of mine, but all 6 of my hubbies have never had any harsh juices in them, EVER.

This is definitely a game changer, and not a good one.

Yes, indeedy...that's exactly the same as ours :( At this point (over a two month period)L

...I killed one with Cherry Blossom (before I knew it was a tank cracker)
...9 have cracks but are still usable (but could obviously crack/break any second - so only usable while sitting around the house)
...2 have cracked & died.

That' 12 x $6 plus shipping = $72.00+
6 packs of replacement coils/heads = $36.00+
Cost of Kanthal wire/meter/silica wicking for rebuilding coils = $30-ish+
PLUS *TIME* = MONEY

Oh yeah, I like taking a couple of hundred dollar bills out of my purse, tearing them to shreds & throwing them to the wind...just so I can go spend more money & time finding replacements and then "getting to know them".

I've never been so close to saying "screw it, I'll just go back to smoking analogs"! (hubby n' I used to stuff our own, and we were able to smoke over a PaD each for less than $100 a month combined)...and we didn't spend hours weekly frustrating over stuff like this.

:::end of rant::: 'sorry about that - but I've spent around 5/6 hours in the last few days dealing with getting my money back from Fasttech (and ensuring they weren't frauding others with erroneous pictures).

No more eVods for us...ever! We're switching to polypropylene tanks with Boge cartos asap! After trying a couple-three over the last 2 days, we're seriously impressed. The vape is definitely as good/better than what we get from our Cisco drip attys...and that's phenomenally good.

I was putting juice in my tank this morning (HHV Caramel Cappuccino) and noticed a crack that goes all around the base of the tip. I can still use it, as long as I keep it upright. I think it may be because I was holding it between my teeth with a 1000 ego twist attached...too much weight or pressure?

The picture looks like there's a big chunk missing...there isn't! LOL

In our experience (of course, ymmv), we've noticed that once the crack breaks the 'air lock', they are still "usable", they just gurgle, sputter & leak.

We are definitely going to miss our eVods! :(
