Well I tried... TRIED to rebuild my coil. 28 AWG kanthal... a bit big. I think 32 AWG would be perfect. However, had my lil white rubber piece not ripped I think 6 wraps would have worked or got me near 1.5ohm. 5 wraps was 1.1ohm. 7 wraps, if it would fit in the head, is my best guess at it working correctly, prolly closer to 1.7-2.0ohm.

4 Wraps of 28awg Kanthal on 3mm silica - ohms too low
5 Wraps of 28awg Kanthal on 3mm silica - 1.1ohm - would not fire on the VAMO

This was a loss as far as the rebuild goes but a win as far as giving me an idea for wraps when my AGA-t2 gets here tomorrow. I did get 5 wraps to fire on my eGo-T 650mAh and the Kanthal was even and bright when it was glowing. It's a good thick wire and I think as coil wire it will last a while on the VAMO. This was my first attempt at coil making/rebuilding. Overall I am pleased. I will order some new heads for the EVOD and some 32awg Kanthal for when they need rebuilding. On the plus side... I have 3mm silica and Kanthal on hand.

Are you sure you using 3mm silica? or 32awg? Or maybe you have coils touching somewhere..

With 3mm and 32g wire I always had a problem getting 2 ohmz or lower with 4 or 5 wraps...

I rebuild mine every week, I got a small amount of 30g to try and get my resistance lower, but it doesn't seem to heat as well at the same wattage. I just received some 32g Nichrome that I'm going to try this weekend..

Yes, I specifically ordered 3mm silica wick... the wire I have is 28awg Kanthal A-1. I used a large straight paper clip and wrapped the wire around both, adjusted the coil spacing evenly then removed the paper clip. I used it because I wanted a sturdy backbone to help wrap the coils and so that there was a small gap for the wick to swell in when saturated with liquid. I am going to order some thinner 32awg wire just for the EVOD coils. I am looking for 2.0-2.4 ohm in the EVOD as I vape in RMS and Wattage mode on my VAMO at 8 - 8.5w. I have two 2.0ohm coils coming now for it and those will be what I rebuild when the time comes.

Edit: I corrected it... my mistake lol

I got five of those Evods and use them all day. I love em cause I don't have to tip it up to keep the juice where it needs to be like top coils (and then get juice leaking out of the mouthpiece), I never get dry hits, they are very easy to refill, and the too easy draw was an easy fix. I've been wanting to order about 10 more!

Yes 28g is way to big...

I just tried my 32g nichrome and I don't know if this is just a fluke or its all in my head yet, but it seems to work much better..

The ohms don't read any lower on my crappy multimeter (can't wait to get my VAMO from china), but it seems to work much better at lower voltages than the kanthal and I can still turn it up without burning like I would get from the kanthal.

I saw somewhere on the forum that nichrome worked better with silica wicks and kanthal worked better with mesh.

I bought a 100 ft spool of this stuff for $6 off of ebay so I think I'm going to experiment more!

EDIT

I also use a thin pin.. and I just started actually mounting the coil with the pin still attached.. I had a problem sometimes with a wire pulling the coil down when putting the bottom post together and with the pin still attached it keeps everything in check, and then I pull the pin.

I also then pull the silica to where I just need to trim the smallest amount at one side and the majority of the wick is on the other..

I do this so that when I trim I have a scrap to use at the flavor wick.. I unravel the big scrap and then using 2 or 3 of the strands from the 3mm - my 3mm uses 4 strands so I figure its close to just putting a 2mm flavor wick on top.... put the post on then then trim again

One huge thing I never see mentioned, but is a huge factor with the EVOD, as well as the T3's...you can't tighten them onto your PV too hard. Turn them upside-down...you see that white gasket? It gets squeezed out more and more if you over-tighten. That will cause a leak as well. I tighten just enough to make a connection, maybe a tad more so it's not flopping.
I think you've fixed my problem.
I put the wick back in that I removed earlier. I've got it on the battery now just tight enough so it doesn't spin off from being in my pocket. So far no gurgling at all. I've gone through about 1/4 tank.

The draw is abit airy, so I find myself pluging one of the air holes sometimes, I found that if I tip mine upside down liquid runs into the mouth piece and drips out. Maybe a factory error, but mine still works good all and all. Since the mouth piece is fixed I can't really take it apart to fixed it from leaking when its upside down. So all I can do is plug the mouth piece with something.
