Anybody know what wire kanger uses? I have been trying to duplicate the 0.5ohm build and with kanthal I can't seem to get there.
When I pulled the stock coil apart it was 5 wraps with around 80mm of wire from positive to negative. To get that resistance at that length with kanthal would be 24ga but when I build that coil it takes much longer to heat up and cool down. The stock coil is nearly instant at 25w.
I measured the stock wire diameter and came out at 28ga. Using the steam engine coil calculator that would seem to indicate titanium grade 2 wire to produce that coil resistance at that length of wire and wire gauge. When the stock coil was dry burned it had a green coloring to it afterwards so that would seem to me to indicate this is correct, but I can't find that material in 28ga available anywhere to test it.
