Well I have a PT2 and still use it despite getting a couple of Kayfun's, Squape, Aqua, RSST, RSBT, four different RDA's, Aerotank, etc... (Heck I still use a Mini PT2 and a couple of Evod tanks daily)

Of course my PT2 is sporting a Aerotank base which makes a world of difference! I highly suggest spending $4 to $6 for one to turn the PT2 into a single coil Aerotank. Worth every penny!

I should add that I only use coils I make or rebuild which is a large factor in any tanks satisfaction.

As far as tanks go I have the PT 2 and my wife has a Mini PT2 as well. I honestly got tired of juice spitting, and leaking through the connector and constantly having to clean the battery pin from juice. Quality of vape was ok but not really floating my boat, so to speak. We tried the Aerotank base on our PT2's and it did make a big difference but we were still looking for more.

I got into rebuilding, (that's a hole other world). My wife... not so much. I picked up a Nautilus Mini with the new BVC heads for her (because of the problems mentioned above). I tried it and WOW! What a difference! Flavor came alive and Vapor production was huge! She is now going on her 3rd week with the same head and we could NEVER get that out of the PT heads.

If you're happy with what you have... then save some money, buy more juice and keep vaping!:)

But... since you're asking the question, one my assume (I know that's a bad thing) that you are looking for more from your vaping experience.

Just my :2c:...

Originally the Protank was not that impressive to me. I was and still use the T3-mini's and they actually deliver better. I was looking for a larger replacement but not happy with results.
I have sense replaced the Bases with the Areotank AFC bases and they are much better and back in minimal rotation.

In the time between purchase and updating, I got to try out the Kayfun type tanks. No Comparison and now I own 7 Kayfun type.:D

I have been using a Pro Tank II for over 6 months with great results. For those to used one and switched, some questions ....

Why did you switch?

What did you switch to?

I'm wondering if it's a case of "if it aint broke don't fix it" ;-)
I mostly use mini protanks, but I've been experimenting with other setups lately. Just got a kfl+ that is very nice. Also ordered 2 drippers, an IGO-L and a quasar, and a mechanical mod I haven't tried yet. Why switch? Because the stock coils and wicks on the protanks aren't very good, they don't wick fast enough and don't seem to tolerate more than like 6 watts without giving dry hits. And they are really fussy about the amount of wick if you rebuild them, I can't seem to find the sweet spot where they won't flood and leak, and won't give dry hits. The kayfun is much easier to rebuild because it doesn't rely on the wick to keep a vacuum in the tank. And there are no tanks in RDAs so that isn't a problem there either. I still use the mini PT if I'm out of the house and trying to be stealthy, because they're so small and don't make huge clouds of vapor.

Thanks for all the replies and advise everyone!

I did notice a small amount of juice from time to time where the PT2 connects to my eVic but switching to an adjustable air base took care of that as the air holes are now in the sides.

As someone mentioned I think I'll save the $$ and stick with the PT2 (for now anyway). ;-)

The coils and cheap on ebay and so far I have not gotten a bad batch. I run it at 7 watts with no dry hits as long as I make sure to clear all the air bubbles after a refill.

Ah, this thread is perfect! I was going to start a new thread tonight to talk about revisiting the Protank 2 with an airflow control base, and lo and behold, there are already people talking about just that. :)

Anyway, byggd, here's my story. I tried the original Protank when it was first released, but hated it. The airflow was so loose, it tasted like metal, and I read that the glue on it could loosen. So I abandoned ship. Then I got the Protank 2 as soon as that came out, but quickly caught the bug where I had to buy every fancy new dual coil clearomizer that came out after it. And I didn't like any of them! I thought they went through juice too fast, and I always got a nice treat of a splash of really hot juice on my tongue. Mm, mmm.

But fast forward to this week, and I ordered a couple of the Kanger Airflow Control V2 bases. The V2 is just like the base on the new Aerotanks: Kanger Airflow Control 2.0 - Large I slapped a brand new Protank 2 on it, put it on an Evic I just got, and BAM. Definitely the most satisfied I've been from anything with a stock coil in it. This combination is a keeper.

I enjoy my Protank 2 as well and ordered a new one with free shipping for only $9.99. It arrived today and it's a real Kanger. I also purchased 2 Kanker air flow adapters. I like the single coils which are cheap compared to the dual coils and they can be dry burned and used again.

I have one with an air control valve and one w/o and I rotate between them. The air control valve I have looks a bit different but I imagine they both have the same results.

I ordered the same air flow adapter. I'm amazed at the difference it makes in the flavor and vapor. Love it as I still can use the single coils. The Protank 2 and the air flow valve is a winner for me. There are some great deals on Kanger single coils on Ebay with free shipping and at Vape 101. Time to stock up while they are still available.

Personally, I still prefer the PT2 over all of the newer variants. PT3, Aero, Mega. The only one of the dual coil kangers I've actually liked is the t3D.

Once you go Kayfun, you never look back on tank systems. Master engineered.
