For those that are rebuilding the heads, how are you guys getting past the scorched rubber grommet on the bottom? Twisting the legs? I've rebuilt some and it has a nasty burnt rubber taste because of the scorched grommet.

I found a post somewhere that said to cut off half the top part of the rubber grommet and it won't get scorched. I've tried it, while it is better but the taste still isn't as good.

Thanks

I don't get that. My first couple of coils, I got a funky taste which I originally thought was burning rubber, but I figured out it was either the silica (started boiling it through 3 rinses of water, just boil the whole glob of it when you get it in the mail) or kanthal not touching the wick and making a funky taste. I don't know which of those it was, but one or the other fixes the taste.

I don't double twist the legs, or join lr wire, and the grommet doesn't burn. I don't know why it doesn't, but it doesn't.

I also get a long life out of my head. I use a very light colored j juice in my PT2. I use a 70/30 pg/vg. I've been using this tank and head for around 6 weeks. I clean the tank itself every couple days, but I always just pop the same head back in without rinsing. I've taken the top post off a few times to see if it was gunked up, but so far still looks good.

I did ruin a few head when I first started because I didn't prime them and burnt them. Now I know better.

I just bought two protank2 minis, I'm hoping I get the same performance from those. Same head so I don't see why not.

Now I've rinsed and reused the coils in my iclear16s a number of times when changing flavors. My protanks have dedicated flavors, which probably helps the life.

Equipment used :

Innokin iTaste MVP V2 ......... I Vape at 8.5 Ohms All the time with both the mini and the standard size
Kanger Pro tank and Pro tank mini
I Vape 100% VG 36mg Nic with 5% Water NO flavoring added ever
Puff counter averages between 275-400 Puffs per day
Wizard Labs 36mg 100% VG Nic
Kanger brand coils 2.5 ohm
The only maintenance I do is rinse it out every couple of days, that's it

My coils have been lasting 3-4 Weeks or more Each, with No gurgling , No burnt taste , No troubles.

When it Gurgles CONSISTENTLY I change the coil, and so far no other reasons have caused me to replace coils

Hope this helps someone and that somebody can explain to me why this has worked so well, It can't be luck, been doing this for 6 months now

Light juice? Dark juice? PG heavy or VG heavy? How many mL per day?
