Hello everyone~ I am quite new to vaping, so I don't really know all that much about it.

After my Oakley Gemini tank broke due to a reaction which destroyed the plastic, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Kanger Protank 2 to go along with my KGO Mega (1300 MAH) battery. At first I loved it, but then I started to notice some burnt taste every once in a while. I have tried many different juices from sites such as VaporGod, Vapor Beast, and Zeus juice, and I keep seeming to get the same result of an occasional burn.

Is there something I can do? Am I doing something wrong? I have tried three different coil heads, and have made sure to let them soak too.

Hey Tik

since you said it only happens once in a while the burnt taste may be a dry hit ie: a dry hit happens if you are taking successive vapes and the eliquid is not wicking fast enough

Have you watched any reviews on the Protank 1 on youtube? Pbusardo and VapinGreek will cover how to remove 1 of the flavor wicks to improve wicking (especially if you use a high VG eliquid.

Thank you for the introduction! I will try that flavor wick removal thing tomorrow. I have a lot of strange and exotic juices, most of them using a range of concentrations. I am new, so I want to try everything.

Thank you for the tip though. This tank is awesome, and I just want to make it even better.

Hi Tik,

I'm assuming the KGO Mega isn't a variable voltage battery. If that's the case you can try a higher resistance coil/head in your Protank. The higher resistance coil/head (ohms) will lower the power output (watts) getting rid of the burnt taste if it isn't the dry hits as Jim pointed out. I believe the coils come in 1.5, 1.8, 2.2, and 2.5 ohms. I would think it has to be either dry hits, dirty coils/heads, or too much power causing the burning taste. Welcome to ECF

two things cause burning
lack of juice : thicker juices will not wick as well, drying the wick out... try using a e-liquid with more PG.. for evod / protank i find around %30 PG to work very well.

Lack of Air... this is a bit more tricky to correct. i have drilled out the air holes on most of my devices i find that i can vape at a higher voltage with more airflow going over the coil with out burning what so ever.. this of course means more vapor production. on my evod i drilled out 2 of the holes to 1/16th this made the $4 tank hit like a champ with a 1.8 ohm coil at 4.2 volts.

In my limited experience, I have found that tank systems can get what some people call vapor-lock. I am not sure that is the correct term, but basically a vacuum builds up in the tank as the juice is removed through wicking but no air comes in to replace it. Loosening the tank connection to the base just enough to allow air to seep in but not let juice out seems to help.

Creating a vacuum in the tank, would cause the wick to work better. As the air pressure was removed it would leave a void and liquids always want to take the shape of there container. The container in this case is the capillaries in the wick. Under atmospheric pressure the these little air bubbles in the capillaries hold the juice back and stop it from flowing into the capillaries. Under vacuum the air bubbles are removed. and the juice can flow into the void with little resistance.

Well, I just chain vaped for about five minutes or so after removing one of those pesky flavor wicks. So far I have not even had a hint of burn even when using my gummy bear liquid (Which is very prone to burned taste). This could have fixed it, I will report back with results after actual use though!

just be on the look out for leaking e-liquid...

I also purchased a set of 2.5 Ohm resistance coils, I am currently using 2.2, the ones that came with the tank in the kit.

are they really 2.2? did you check with a DVOM? most of the kanger protank coils i have come across are not even close. for example i have a 5 pack of 1.8 ohm coils that are really 2.4 ohm coils... good thing i have a VV mod.

This is where my newbieness comes into play. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when you speak of a DVOM.
