hello my name is noah i am new here and i hope to learn alot. i have been vaping a kanger protank 2 mini for awhile with a ego t battery. my battery broke so i got the ego c twist. after a little bit of vaping with the new battery it lost all flavor and tasted burnt. it was very unusual so i replaced my atty in the tank and still tasted bad. i cleaned the tank very well and put new juice in and it still tasted awful! my friend said the battery might be defective so i tried his battery and it still tastes awful. ive tried everything besides a new tank. any suggestions? should i just bite the bullet and get a new tank?

If you have replaced the coil and cleaned the tank and its parts as well as tested it on a new battery I'm at a loss as to why you are getting a bad taste. You mentioned you put in new juice. Have you tried a different flavor or bottle? Maybe something from your friend? I'm not sure if worn out o-rings would do it but might be worth a look to see if they are in need of replacing.

yes i tried a different flavor and still put out the nasty taste. why would the o rings make it taste bad? also could a defective battery somehow completely ruin the tank? i put the new battery on a carto and it started to taste bad too, could the battery have ruined the protank because i vaped it awhile thinking the taste would go away. the carto tastes fine now back on a normal 510 battery?

I have no idea of failed o-rings would do it. Was just a random idea. If the battery is pumping out too much power it would certainly burn the juice and make it taste bad. As for it ruining a tank? I would think its possible if it ruined some internal components though I would think it would have to be shorting out and burning metal. I'm certainly no expert on these things.

Do you know what resistance your coil is running at? If you run a twist high enough on a low resistance coil you could certainly produce a nasty vape. Being that the twist is a vv battery you may be running too high. Once you get some burnt juice on the wick it may take a bit to burn it off so to speak. Again I'm no expert when it comes to that. Just tossing out ideas.

a few questions:

- you mentioned you are running an ego twist. what voltage was it running at when you first had burnt tastes?

- have you tried to lower the voltage to see if the problem persists?

- metallic taste can sometimes be related to poor wicking (distinct taste of coils), what type of juice are you using? what's the pg/vg ratio?

in all honesty it can be frustrating but it sounds simple enough to fix, and I personally don't think you need a new tank just yet

ps - I can't think of any reasons or ways for your battery to ruin a tank. however, once you have a couple burnt hits, it is possible for the rest of the juice in your tank to get 'contaminated' with the nasty taste. even after you switch to a new battery, it can still taste nasty. it depends if juice is getting burned (voltage too high) or if it's just poor wicking (juice too thick / very dark). poor wicking normally doesn't affect the taste of the juice that's left on the tank. once it wicks properly it goes back to normal.

one thing that you might be able to test, clean everything up, replace the head/atty, test it on the lowest voltage setting or better yet, on your friends battery. so: new juice, cleaned tank, new head, lower voltage. if that doesn't fix it, I am out of ideas.

I use a UniTank (same heads I believe) and sometimes with thicker juice I have to let it sit a little bit after filling to let the wick saturate all the way. Same thing if I'm chain vaping a thick juice, helps to take a couple of strong, quick draws without pushing the button to draw more juice into the coil area.

FWIW I'm also using a ctwist and tend to keep kangers 1.8 ohm heads around 3.8 - 4 volts and the 2.5 ohms around 4.4 - 4.5.
